'Crowd has been thinning': Trump supporters reportedly 'walking out' of N.J. rally

Donald Trump loves to brag about the "huge" size of his political rallies, but on Saturday a reporter spotted the ex-president's supporters leaving the event while he was still speaking.

Trump over the weekend spoke in New Jersey, which most polls show is solidly behind the current president, Joe Biden. After the event, the former president was criticized for making a mistake about China and for apparently slurring his speech. Trump spent a good portion of his speech bragging about the size of the crowd, even insisting news cameras turn to face the crowd to show how many people attended the event.

But a reporter from The Philadelphia Inquirer noticed that, prior to Trump being finished with his speech, his own fans started departing. "Trump is still speaking, but the crowd has been thinning. People have been walking out back to the boardwalk," wrote Aliya Schneider on Saturday. "The back section of the crowd is noticeably smaller as people continue to leave while Trump is still speaking."

Schneider, who provided video evidence of her observations, also included the ex-president's response. "Trump just said he hasn’t noticed anybody leaving," she wrote during the speech. She added, "People have also left the front seating section. Trump is speaking again after bringing others on stage with him and the back section has largely emptied out," the reporter noted. "It’s gotten cold with the sun down and the beach breeze."

Lisa Fagan, spokesperson for the city of Wildwood, told The Associated Press that she estimated a crowd of between 80,000 and 100,000 attendees, based off her own observations on the scene Saturday, having seen “dozens” of other events in the same space.

They’re expecting us to believe a MetLife Stadium Taylor Swift show's worth of people showed up to this?

Orange shitgibbon also claimed he had a much bigger crowd than Bruce Springsteen.
Springsteen sold out three nights at MetLife Stadium last year. I was at one of them.

Let's face it, no matter how large or small the crowd was, he'd claim it was the biggest crowd ever, "like nobody's ever seen before!"

A spokesperson for Wildwood had previously said capacity for the event would be about 20,000. Wildwood’s mayor, Ernie Troiano Jr., said the event could accommodate 40,000 and a speaker claimed that 80,000 were in attendance, an unconfirmed number.

they end up being bitten. He's been using this metaphor since 2016. It's the lyrics to a song written by the late Black activist, musician and playwright Oscar Brown, Jr. and Trump coopts it against Brown's family's wishes, who say Trump embodies the snake Brown warned against.

How embarrassing for him.

Lots of hate, lots of anger, but the crowd was huge. It had to have been his largest so far. I've never seen so many people get off on so much hate. There was no sign of anyone leaving. I do wish I had a buck for every time I heard his crowd was thinning or it's the same people that follow him. I could afford a thick piece of prime rib.

Think. Again.

The only number that counts is the number of votes he gets from registered voters, in the election, doesn’t matter how big his crowds are. He only does it anyway because he needs it, he’s addicted to the adoration of multitudes

... long, long day for those people. Some even camped out the day before. I am not sure what the bathroom situation was like, either... people must have been tired and hungry. My advice is always to leave these events early, or you get caught in the crowd leaving all at once. Plus, it was a bore after he used vulgar swear words and called Christie fat.
