Hes following the old adage about not getting in the way of a train wreck, and the Trump train just keeps wrecking.
He makes clear and on target public statements from time to time. Meanwhile, he is spending much less money and energy than he would have to in normal times, and there are fewer risks of gaffes, etc., for the media to pounce on with their double standards. And, donations are rolling in, hes probably spending more time with potential donors behind the scenes than normal, and I have no doubt many more $ will come in as Election Day approaches. I dislike the system but he has to play it well to win.
And the polls keep looking good for him...

(309 posts)I was just thinking about her yesterday and wondered about her twitter feed..meant to check it to see what she's been posting. Didn't get around to it. Anyone else keeping track of her? I still believe someone paid for her to come out with what she said after so many years of remaining silent. Follow the money!

(34,407 posts)Was in office, and that person said no way would Ms. Obama run for any office. Apparently, she disliked politics as much as many people do, but just happened to be extremely good at it.

(5,477 posts)Let tRump finish taking down his own campaign and the rest of the GOP with him, while we sit back and watch them destroy themselves.
In that case, said Napoleon, let us wait twenty minutes; when the enemy is making a false movement we must take good care not to interrupt him.

He couldn't stand seeing DC media be negative about him so he made his campaign run ads.

I thought that it was a really weird placement, considering that Grant helped us win the Civil War.
But if Trump wants to waste his money, go right ahead!

(52,126 posts)Donnie's political career depends on being able to dominate the media with his twisted version of reality. In 2016, we weren't in a crisis, so the media was more than happy to cover made-up Hillary scandals and Donnie's self-promotion.
In 2020, however, there's a pandemic, a major recession, protests, supply chain problems, etc.
Too much real news means not enough airtime for Donnie to flood our attention with his warped defining of his opponent or himself, and it finally gets challenged. The economy is in shambles, there's too much of a gap between Donnie's boasting and reality.
His shtick doesn't work anymore.

(82,849 posts)All the unsolicited advice he's getting from Fox and Trump. They are unanimous in complaining about Biden's campaign and its tactics, which signals to me that it's working. Their own polling is telling Fox and Trump just how effective Biden is being, and they're getting more and more desperate to knock him off his message. But this isn't Biden's first rodeo.

(4,238 posts)I think the Lincoln Project has done far better ads. Trump has provided so much material, his own words could so easily be used against him, particularly in a mocking way, which we know triggers him more than anything.
I appreciate Bidens presidential tone, something that has been sorely lacking and much needed. But taking a few sharp jabs would be good, too.
