'I wish I never founded WCKitchen'

I don't believe in the concept of evil. But whatever it is that made this man say "I wish I never met you….I wish I never founded @WCKitchen" is just about as close as you can get.

Ceasefire now. Stop sending weapons now.

I know this op is about one angel but she died with 6 other angels that day as well as doctors, first responders, all volunteers killed for their kindness and mercy for others. It’s got to stop.

I spent part of my morning emailing my senators, representative, President Biden, and VP Harris. Here is what I wrote. Please feel free to use my words in your own emails to your reps.

I'm a big fan and support you wholeheartedly but please, please, please cease financial, military, and political support for Israel's attack on the Palestinian people. 33,000 deaths is enough. Bombing innocent people into oblivion and starving to death those who remain is a sickening outrage. You would think that a people who experienced genocide themselves would have more compassion and better sense. They are doing themselves no favors in a neighborhood where they are already reviled and living under threat. Thank you for your time.

I also donated to the World Central Kitchen.

Precisely to elicit that reaction. To try and make people pull back from feeding starving civillians

Israel is not evil. I dont even think we should stop arming Israel, in the long run. It is a country with a right to exist and a definite need to be able to protect itself from hostile neighbors

But what is happening now is not self protection The people running Israel right now want this death to continue. Exactly the same as the people who run Hamas want the death to continue. Same as when Trump and Bush ran our country in ways that were deadly and inhumane towards others. Right wing authoritarians are the same anywhere, and they are NEVER trustworthy allies or good representatives of the people they want to rule.

Thats what we have to find a way to disrupt, the needle we need to find a way to thread.

this stopped being about Hamas long ago. I'm disappointed that these atrocities happen but also that people here are making excuses for it to happen again and again.

that it would be like committing national suicide. No ally would ever trust that nation again. I get that. We had to support Israel immediately.

But we are past that now - targeting non-combatants who are only there to provide humaitarian aid has got to be a war crime.

And I also cannot disagree with quaherboy:
"Israel is not evil. I dont even think we should stop arming Israel, in the long run. It is a country with a right to exist and a definite need to be able to protect itself from hostile neighbors"

I don't know the answer. Netanyahu is as stubborn as TSF - and apparently as sick as well - and, while I cannot believe the Jewish people would support what he is doing, yet he is surrounded by enablers - also like TSF. No one - no words -are going to change his mind any more than any one or any words would get TSF to drop out of the Presidential race tomorrow.

We have no right to order around the leader of a sovereign state, and if we did, we'd have no way to enforce it. Yes, he is doing Israel no good and instead inflicting harm. Yes, Israel desperately needs new leadership. But we can't bring that about, and really, we shouldn't if we could.

And as long as I'm ranting - I may as well point out one more complication: Jews are not the only Semites in the world. Aras are also a Semitic people. The phrase "brother against brother" comes to mind.

The US has always supported Israel and should continue to support it as a state, not its current actions authored by Netanyahu. I hope the US will always support Israel’s right to exist, but we should never support what they are now doing in Gaza. The disproportionate killing of innocent civilians is just unacceptable to me.

I disagree that there is little that Biden can do. He can call for a ceasefire and announce that the US will temporarily stop sending arms so as to support a ceasefire. He can create and announce a coalition of representatives for Palestinians, other Arab nations, the US, and Israel now to make plans for rebuilding Gaza and making it clear that Israel cannot take that land as their own. Instead of waiting for the war to end, he can immediately create another coalition to begin plans for a Palestinian state. He has already said he supports a two-state solution but that isn’t enough to get Netanyahu and his backers to the table to negotiate. He could also recognize Palestine as a state, thus giving more credibility. Doing nothing but criticizing Netanyahu’s actions just doesn’t make any difference because Bibi has been giving the US the middle finger for years, knowing that he has supporters here.

This issue is hurting Biden, and keeping the war going will just cause a lot of needless deaths and more damage to world opinion of both Israel and the US.

Would you also require that we only do that - when the Americans that were kidnapped are returned to us?

Edan Alexander needs to get back home to Tenafly NJ. He's one of the six Americans of the 99 kidnapped still believed to be alive that President Biden mentioned in his SOTU speech.

Give us back our sons and daughters. Why can't Hamas at least release the six Americans.

Is it really that hard?

I'm not inclined to veer from my course until our own are safe and sound.
