Im sorry, but I dont think corruption justifies assassination
fines, paying money back, jail? Sure
after due process.
I dont think anyone suggested sending a hit squad after Jack Abramoff.
Were not Russia.

(2,573 posts)Do they not understand that if they agreed to this today then Biden would have fair reason for "eliminating" Trump?
Can someone wake me up from this nightmare.
Surely this cannot be going on in a sane world!

It seems some pro-authoritarian Justices are not thinking this all the way thru.

(2,235 posts)It's been pretty clear for some time, the RWers and RW judges are fine with smashing rules but rely on the fact that those on the left are more honest, thus reliably playing within the norms.

(13,934 posts)"THEY" better watch out for what they are hoping for. It might come back and bite them in the ass. After all they might not need to be "eliminated" just sent to GITMO for an extended vacation.. Or a stayCation of an indeterminate time...

(23,977 posts)It's why they'll delay such a decision until after Jan. 20.
If Biden gets reelected, their decision will be reasonable, basically maintain the status quo. If TSF wins, it will be the most batshit insane ruling ever seen in a democracy, and also the last for this one.

(1,832 posts)I agree that should not be an acceptable option. I do think, however, that should a President represent an obvious clear and present danger to society, tries to overthrow the duly elected President, and then tries to install, himself or herself, as a dictator, they should be arrested, given a speedy trial, and if they are convicted by a jury, given life in prison. If they killed someone, ordered someone killed, or caused someone to be killed because of their actions in pursuit of that goal, or sold secrets to foreign enemies, I also think the death penalty should be left on the table as a possible sentence.
Also justices who were appointed by the defendant or who have glaringly obvious conflicts of interest, should have a mandatory recusal from participating in the case period.
