South Dakota AG: No wrongdoing with abortion petition callers

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — State law enforcement officials have concluded work with the South Dakota Secretary of State’s office about a series of calls made by a newly registered political action committee to people who had signed an abortion rights ballot initiative petition.

Late Tuesday afternoon, South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley announced there was “no evidence of criminal wrongdoing after reviewing complaints and scripts used by the volunteers.”

“Based on the evidence collected, there is no indication of criminal activity,” Jackley said in a news release.

Jackley said the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation was asked by the Secretary of State’s Office to look into calls and complaints the SOS has received from South Dakota Petition Integrity, a newly formed PAC.
