Obama announces new DNC unity fund

Former President Barack Obama and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) on Friday announced a new fund to support the eventual party's 2020 nominee.
Obama, in a DNC email, announced the creation of a "Democratic Unity Fund" that will go to support the party's nominee, as two dozen candidates vie for the party's nomination.
"I'm excited that the DNC asked me to announce a bold new effort: The Democratic Unity Fund. Launching today, the fund will be dedicated to electing our party's eventual presidential nominee and winning up and down the ballot in 2020," Obama said in the email.
"The Democratic Unity Fund is a promise that whoever earns our nomination, he or she will have a strong, united, and well-organized DNC ready to spring into action the moment the general election starts -- a DNC that's ready to lift us all to victory in November," he continued.

Get themselves to Pa., talk about jobs, wages, the things people care about RTW laws that are killing workers.
Candidates need to talk about how they intend to create jobs, fix Healthcare, Infrastructure! Those are the things people care about. Quit pitting one group against another. Look for that life long Democrat to show up on Cable News soon.
Perez was there, too, listening and hearing.

I'd like to see it again, especially since I was watching it on my phone while gardening, so couldn't give the town hall my undivided attention.

(2,446 posts)the donations get spread out over many, putting the eventual main candidate at a $$ disadvantage for the general. this fund will be necessary.

(34,136 posts)While we have a great field of candidates, there is only so much I can donate during any election cycle. I want ALL of my money going to defeat whoever the Republicans put on the ballot, not to fund Democratic circular firing squads.
So far the only campaign that has called me was Insley's. I was nice to the fundraiser, but told them the same thing I just wrote.
