"...he filed the bill in part because children want to work without having to take lunch breaks."

Adults are suppose to be guiding youngsters--teaching them good habits, etc,.
Lunch breaks are essential--even if only get some fresh air, have a pear or drink or whatever. damn.

A Louisiana House committee voted Thursday to repeal a law requiring employers to give child workers lunch breaks and to cut unemployment benefits — part of a push by Republicans to remove constraints on employers and reduce aid for injured and unemployed workers.

The House Labor and Industrial Relations panel advanced the child labor legislation, House Bill 156, along with House Bill 119, which would slash the amount of time for which people can collect unemployment aid. A third bill the committee approved, House Bill 529, would change how workers' compensation wages are calculated in ways that could reduce benefits received by some injured laborers.

The bills, which head to the full House, are part of a broad effort by Republicans to weaken labor unions and strengthen employers' hands in Louisiana.
They are aligned with steps other Republican-led legislatures have taken in recent years, and on Thursday, GOP lawmakers attributed the moves to Gov. Jeff Landry's directive to "reform" the business environment and remove bureaucratic red tape.

This is the party of family values, which means their family is valuable but yours can go pound sand.

Just when you think republicans can't get any meaner, nastier, or vile, they show you you're wrong.

Do they get lunch because if they do that should stop immediately. Where are the parents in these states! Stand up now people or your children will suffer a lifetime!

Thank you, Republicans in the Louisiana Legislature, for giving me one more state where I will not spend any money.

Thank you, Republicans in the Louisiana Legislature, for teaching teens the value of Republicans in the Louisiana Legislature.

Thank you, Republicans in the Louisiana Legislature, for bringing to mind a word I learned from Moira Rose: unasimous.

When I see where he got his "values" his degenerate behavior makes more sense. Just plain evil, the lot of them. I hope they get everything they deserve.

Abolish abortion and curtail birth control to vastly increase the child workforce, then no immigrants will be needed.

Doesn't mean they will, but they could. I suspect there might be a few other Federal agencies that would want to have a chat with any employer who refuses to follow Federal guidelines. At least, they should.
