Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Will Make It Illegal To Protect Children From COVID - Ring of Fire

Florida's Republican governor Ron DeSantis is absolutely adamant that there will be no mask mandates as children prepare to head back to school. He's so adamant about it that he has actually threatened to BAN any rules requiring children to wear masks. Children are dying from COVID. Florida is the #1 spot in the country for COVID. But DeSantis would rather virtue signal to his idiotic base than take basic, simple steps to keep our children safe. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

Are exacerbating it! He sounds like TFG by saying Covid will "disappear" come August - because the tourists will "go away?" Isn't Florida a "winter haven" state? (Hence the city by that name.) Floridians are showing up in my neck-of-the-woods (New York Adirondacks) for the summer months to escape the Florida heat - and the "snowbirds" will return en masse to Florida in the fall.

I try to find interesting videos - especially late night - that DUers may have missed.

And Winter Haven sticks in my mind since my grandmother often spent winters in Florida when I was a kid and I remember she stayed there one year. I wonder if she saw the circus, LOL. We went down a couple of times to spend Christmas with her, New Smyrna Beach and Daytona Beach.

my wife was assisting a magician, i'm sure you can picture the costume and being sawed in half 3 times a night.

they had a fight and he threatened to miss with the saw, so she ran to my trailer just in time for practice throwing knives ......

i still keep these hours, which is when i watch the late show comedians ........

But then I watch too many mystery shows and it sounds like your wife came way too close to being in one of them! Lucky she found you!

And I worked nights for a lot of years - by choice - and still keep much the same hours. I seem to come from a family of "night people," so I was fortunate to work the late hours, not everyone is. And I started posting the late night comedians - since I turned to them instead of the regular news in early 2017 - and I figured we could really use the humor here!

And the good news is that Bill Maher is also finally back this week - but the NBC latenight shows are preempted by the Olympics. While Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel (who has guest hosts for the summer) are inexplicably in repeats this coming week - and The Daily Show is preempted by the repeats they usually show the rest of the night for the summer, too. What I don't get is why they think that during the time when people are likely to be on vacation - and likely to stay up later - that they won't be watching TV?

of course, there have been a few different stories about that.

for my brother, the stooge fan, it is "winter haven. slowly i turned. step by step ....."

so that takes care of the family correspondance this week.

oh well, having thousands of people die in his state helped India's Narendra Modi's election to Prime Minister as the deaths continue. Maybe that's DeSantis's plan. Odd, since it didn't work out so well for his hero Trump.

I thought he was smarter than Trump, but no, this proves he is just as stupid...

No Mask Mandates for Florida I wonder how many children will die when schools reconvene in mid or
late August?....DeSantis thinks politics are more important than keeping children safe...

I like these words...."Florida is the number one spot in the country for Covid. But DeSantis would would rather virtue
signals to his idiotic base than take basic, simple steps to keep our children safe.....

DeSantis thinks that he & his political views..... are more important than Florida's children.....
When he runs for reelection, he will find out the truth. The stupidest move ever...Just like Trump..

Has he jackknifed recently or was he always this way? Suicide cult? Trying to outdo The Former Guy? He's giving Brazil's Bolsonaro a run for the money. As long as folks still fly in and out of Florida, this is really bad news for everyone in and out of the continental U.S. We let the Delta variant run wild it could morph into an even deadlier form.

I wonder what his opinion is concerning his own children who are too young for a vaccine? He is plenty willing for other people to put their children’s lives at risk. Reporters need to ask him how he plans to handle that issue with his own children. Will they go maskless with Covid raging in Florida? Or will they be kept at home? What does he plan to do? Do tell, Asshat.

15. Please stop, children are not at risk.
Mon Jul 26, 2021, 12:59 AM

We need to stop with the misinformation on this site or we are as bad as they are. Numerous studies dating far back to Middle Eastern Sars viruses show kids are rarely affected. Studies on Covid show the same thing, almost no kids are affected, almost all have zero symptoms, a very small percentage have a low grade fever at worst.

There are RARE, RARE cases of kids being affected.....but these are very rare, way more kids die of car accidents, cancer, allergic reactions, etc. than even get badly sick from Covid.

Every now and then a child will have a serious issue with Covid but almost all have known preexisting conditions. These children should wear masks, just like a child with peanut allergies must be extremely careful.

But enough with the hyperbole. Kids need to go to school and enjoy themselves. Its totally up to the adults to get vaccinated, end of story.

In fact, in might be way better for kids to get infected with Covid and develop immunity in their younger years, just like they develop immunity to many other microorganisms. The science is still being written on that.

Covid and other viruses will continue to spring up for all eternity. Follow the science, kids are at super low risk. They can spread it, but oh well, get vaccinated and let them live their lives.
