Taking A Break For A While

Last edited Wed May 1, 2024, 05:00 PM - Edit history (1)

Hey Everybody:

It's not like I'm addressing adoring fans (hah!), but there are a number of DUers who are E&E regulars, and I wanted to let you know what's happening as I step back from posting.

First of all, I already spend too damned much time in front of screens, and it was my first vacation in a couple of years last week that helped me figure that out. Some days of hiking and some miles on the trail and knees stiff from literally months of sitting began to unbend.

It also reminded me that I need to spend more time out in the world instead of writing about what's happening to the world. So, with that in mind, I'll see you down the road - and thanks for sticking around this forum!

Best,

hatrack

Nothing very grand, just some nice trails in the woods.

I'm here less than 10 percent of what I was, and posting even less.

Lots of hiking, kayaking and gardening for me

Catch you again, and around, eventually. Thanks for your superb posts here.

Pictures are amazing, thanks for sharing. I’ll miss your posts in E&E but shoot a few of those pictures over once in a while. Thanks 😊

Enjoy reacquainting yourself with nature. You are setting a good example for those of us who would benefit from doing the same.

I’m not Irish, unfortunately, but this seems apropos.

“May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.”

In case anybody's wondering, the photographs are from Escalante/Grand Staircase National Monument (southern Utah).

If you have the chance, go - It's like Zion but without people (pretty cool combination, IMHO!)

In order:

Lower Calf Creek Falls
Along the Escalante River Canyon
Fifty-Mile Canyon

See you in a few months . . . .

Thanks for letting us know. I hope you find your peace, AND a way to keep it within easy reach at any hour, and anywhere.

Hope you come back soon, with lots of great stories to share.

And one more thing: Where were those photos taken? That's a whole lotta beautiful!

I am here less, because of my health. Maybe I should follow your lead and take a break, too.

See you later!
