In reply to the discussion: cops see baby doll through window, assume its dead baby and break in without a warrant [View all]intheflow
(28,788 posts)54. They were recorded going through her mail and breaking into her home without cause.
They had a warrant for another address. That doesn't give them permission or excuse them for breaking into the wrong house. They were pretty sure it was a doll but kept talking about how it "might" be a dead baby. These things are demonstrably illegal, and were recorded.

OP
F**k these cops nowadays. Ever since 9/11 they've been given a pass and called "hero's"

Those cops in Texas who sat on their hands while a lone gunman killed all those kids deserve a lifetime of condemnation

Had there been a dog there in its own home--even a friendly non-protective one, they would have shot it.

I think it's reasonable that the police department should pay for whatever repairs are necessary.

Yes. Whether the police are responsible for repairing damage caused during a wrong-door entry depends *

I support our police. It's a mistake to paint them with such a broad brush.

Then let's judge police officers "based on their own actions and character," not always cover up for them.

My brother was a Cop...he was a good guy and did not engage in this behavior. However, he knew other police did.

Is this particular group of cops indicitive of all? I think that's the point on generalizations.

Unless a cop is recorded while doing something obviously illegal, they are completely untouchable.

Kind of confused here... if that had been a baby in distress and they waited for a warrant

The cops definitely screwed up. However, dead bodies really do look like mannequins.

I seriously do not understand the need to apologize and explain away shitty cops being shitty.

I suppose we could grant all cops total immunity, like Trump promised to do when elected.

Interesting that they discussed "doll" or "dead baby" but not "live baby not breathing"
