(2,419 posts)are tight. Tom Kean Jr. & Christie, not so much. There was an interesting little drama that played out this fall. Steve Sweeney, the democratic Senate leader from Gloucester County was up for re-election. Tom Kean Jr., the Senate minority leader, was also the head of the Republican Senate campaign committee. He poured a lot of money into the coffers of Sweeney's opponent. This ticked Sweeney off and he went to Christie in an attempt to "get even" with Kean for making him run a harder campaign that normal. Christie saw it as is chance to both make a deal with Sweeney and get his good buddy O'Toole in as the Senate Minority leader. The problem is they didn't count the votes before selection and Kean was able to hold on to the leadership position. Tom Kean Sr. lambasted Christie after that incident.
Murray is referring to Tom Kean Jr., the New Jersey Republican state senator who with arm-twisting from newly re-elected Gov. Chris Christie was almost forced out of his job as the state Senate's Minority Leader.

Tom Kean Jr. would be a good addition, but Sweeney would never let him be part of the committee.
