(44,576 posts)238. U.S. Attorney Fishman: Reports about Bridgegate investigation 'Almost entirely incorrect'

NJ.com: U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman...the top federal prosecutor in New Jersey, gave rare but limited comments about his office's ongoing investigation into the massive traffic jam in Fort Lee last year...During a news conference today...Fishman was asked about a report in Esquire magazine last month that said he was closing in on criminal targets and would have indictments ready soon.
"I will say this: Reports in the press that purport to describe what I might be thinking or what the people who are working on that matter might be thinking or contemplating have been almost entirely incorrect," Fishman said. "And you should be wary of reports that attribute, for attribution or otherwise, what were thinking or what were doing."

And he probably wouldn't even have been at that news conference if it hadn't involved the arrest of a dozen people.
Just as I suspected -- I even saw a story that Christie had offered to resign in exchange for no jail time.
I think we're still a few months away, because if what we ourselves have compiled is any indication, Mr. Fishman has a truckload of allegations to sift through -- and he knows he'll have to separate the wheat from the chaff if he's going up against an ex-U.S. attorney like Christie. And Mr. Fishman will have leaked what he wants leaked when he's darned good and ready to leak it!
