29. I guess he switched his closing 'number' to the 1906 San Francisco
earthquake after the French government complained about his previous climax. At the end of his stage show, he would solemnly ask the audience to stand while he farted "Le Marseillais".

Patriotic tooting just didn't cut it with the Second Republic. (Or was it the Third Republic? I can't keep them all straight.)
