so, i adopted a dog from the pound today. skinny little boxer that managed to hang around since mid-febuary. probably came in with pups, they weren't sure from the kennel card. boxer rescue was supposed to pick her up, but i beat them to it.
i had no intention of getting a dog today. i just had an hour to kill, and i was half way to the pound, which is a fair drive from my house. i had had my eye out for a boxer since i lost my puddy a year and a half ago. didn't really want a pup. but, i have had some really stupid and aggravating experiences with rescue, and just refused to go that road.
the topper is, my excuse for going to the pound was that the chicago pound has a ceramic mural by chicago artist ruth duckworth. she is true master,. i think 80 years old. she has only a few works here in her hometown, and this one was in pieces the last time i saw it. i had a conversation with another ceramic artist about it the other day, and got curious. and so, henrietta (not for long) has a home.
mo-ahs ark officially puts out the "no vacancy" sign today.
