Possibility of Trump’s conviction in New York hush money trial is ‘high’

University of California Political Science Professor Louis DeSipio says the possibility of Donald Trump being convicted in his New York hush money trial is “high”.

Donald Trump’s presidential campaign has been delayed as he appears in a New York City court for his hush money trial.

It is the first time a US president has faced trial in a criminal court.

Mr Trump has pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records.

“New York is a different story – that will go to the jury probably in somewhere about four to five weeks,” Mr DeSipio told Sky News Australia.

“There the possibility of a conviction is high.

“Trump would appeal that, but we don’t know how the American public would respond to the conviction, in this case at a state level, of a former president.”
