Delta Township John Eastman, a lawyer who advised former President Donald Trump's campaign on strategies to overturn the 2020 election, told a crowd in Michigan Thursday the push against voter fraud in the U.S. is "comparable to the fight our founders waged."
About 100 people attended an event inside a Lansing-area Ramada hotel's ballroom that featured Eastman, who's currently facing criminal cases in Georgia and Arizona over his alleged role in Trump's effort to reverse his loss to Democrat Joe Biden. Eastman's speech in Lansing came as Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel continues to investigate the Trump campaign's 2020 bid to secure Michigan's 16 electoral votes, despite Biden winning the state, 51%-48%.
It's unclear whether Nessel's office is considering charging Eastman. But last year, the Attorney General's office brought forgery allegations against 16 Republicans whose names appeared on a document, claiming Trump had won and posing as the state's official presidential electors.
"Let me send a message to your attorney general," Eastman said, at one point, Thursday night.
"I had zero communications with your electors," he said. "In fact, I've now met one elector just tonight, about four years after the election. I had zero involvement with the Michigan litigation. And I think I had maybe two five minute conversations with a couple of lawyers here in Michigan because my focus was in Pennsylvania and in Georgia.

The suspension is temporary until the final disposition of the California proceeding, DC Court of Appeals Chief Judge Anna Blackburne-Rigsby wrote Friday.
California State Bar Court Judge Yvette Roland on May 1 rejected Eastmans attempt to lift his suspension in that state, saying his disbarment would safeguard the public after he made false claims about the 2020 election. The California Supreme Court will make the final determination.
Eastman is one of several former Trump lawyers facing sanctions. Rudolph Giuliani and Kenneth Chesebro have also had their licenses suspended, and Jeffrey Clark faces possible disbarment after a DC Bar committee on April 4 preliminarily found he violated at least one ethics rule by lying about alleged election fraud.
In California, Roland in March found that Eastman should be disbarred for knowingly making false claims about Trump winning the 2020 presidential election.

(2,140 posts)His own words prove he's a liar:
'I had maybe two five minute conversations with a couple of lawyers here in Michigan', is a direct contradiction of 'I had zero involvement with the Michigan litigation''.
No matter how short it is, he did have contact with them. Even if it was short, it could still constitute involvement, depending on what he discussed in those ten minutes. The only way it's not involvement is if he said, 'I'm not touching this for love or money.' Which is unlikely, given what a wanker he is.
I think it's more likely that he told them, 'I agree with all that you're doing, but you guys handle Michigan, because I have my hands full with PA and GA.' Even something so simple would be coordination of the conspiracy to overthrow an election. And thus something to investigate.
It would behoove Traitor Eastman to learn from real attorneys what they recommend when a prosecution is gunning for you:
Sit down.
Shut up.
