(10,257 posts)Even if found guilty, though, he will appeal and appeal and appeal. The best scenario is that the appeals extend beyond the election to deny him martyr status, he loses the election and the appeals, and he goes to jail. For someone his age and mental condition, four years could see the end of him. He would most likely be well into dementia by then.

(52,604 posts)A lot of time was spent establishing things that are pretty clear and not likely to really be challenged.
They could have stipulated that stormy had an embarrassing story to tell. Probably not even relevant that they had sex, certainly not the details. But they didn't, forcing the prosecution to have her testify and make it more embarrassing than it needed to be.
All in the name of delay. And maybe, they're thinking the more courtroom action, the more opportunity for an appeal.

(431 posts)"Each of the 34 counts stem from a check, ledger entry or invoice from Trump's reimbursement of Cohen....While falsification of business records on its own is a misdemeanor, it is considered a felony punishable by up to four years in prison if it is done to conceal or further other crimes. In this case, Bragg said those other crimes include alleged election law violations and tax law violations...Cohen pleaded guilty in 2018
