Why there are lawsuits about the book

Book sales.

All the publicity about the book and the lawsuits, etc. has pushed the book immediately to the top of the bestseller lists.

People are speculating that Trump gets a share of the profits and that he is helping the book sales by getting more publicity, which he is very good at.

Kabuki theater. Something more serious is going on and 45 and Bannon are trying to use this book as a distraction.

45 may be genuinely angry over many of the things written in the book. But it still provides good cover for whatever is closing in on them in the real world.

And he hates more than anything being trash-talked by people he believes should be uwaveringly loyal to him. There's no way someone as impulsive, egotistical and not-bright as Trump would cook up a scheme to have himself harshly insulted by his own staff just to get a cut from book sales.
