http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/23135580/seattle-seahawks-postpone-visit-colin-kaepernick-say-stop-kneeling-anthemWhy are the Seahawks drawing a line in the sand about this? Don't they have other players who have chosen not to stand? Was their fanbase making demands?

(10,893 posts)have to stop kneeling. It's merely a form of silent and non-violent protest, and him kneeling is completely irrelevant to the game of football. It shows you how shifty most of these owners are when no team entertained the option of picking him up, and how now the Seahawks are essentially demanding that he stops protesting if he wants to play for them.

(39,179 posts)they had a lot of out spoken players last year and the feeling is that it disrupted team unity. They had a some what tumultuous and disappointing season.

(19,316 posts)I'm guessing Kaepernick would have been looked at as an "insurance policy" in case Russell Wilson got injured because Wilson is a much better QB than Kap.
Oh, and go Leafs!

(4,959 posts)I'm not a football fan or follower, but he provided a lot of insight into the NCAA, the NFL, and the Seahawks locker room in particular. Shame that it didn't last. Sorta proving his point.
In any case, I recommend the book!

(1,714 posts)disappointing season on that? Seems to me that what goes on in the locker room should stay in the locker room. They all want to win games, right?

(39,179 posts)I know nothing about the dynamics of a professional football team. Just repeating what I read.

(1,714 posts)that doesn't have a few players who have occasionally acted as if they have some brain damage. (Which may not be related to the sport . . .)

(37,748 posts)How about we remain at least 10% relevant in regards to Kapernick's civil disobedience (this being a thread about that, and all)?
I know, I know... it's tougher to maintain a pretense of cleverness when we stay on topic. It's a tough old world out there, little buddy.

(30,481 posts)Truly a great protest.
Many people are aware of the costs that can be associated with a righteous protest. Kap is one of them. Serious respect for the guy.

I still think there's some chance Seattle will give him a workout. The team has few draft picks this year due to some trades desperately designed to keep the team in title contention last season, before the high priced defensive stars departed.
Ian Rapoport reported that the Seahawks postponed the visit not because Kaepernick specifically refused to stop kneeling, but because they wanted him to have a plan in place toward how to respond to the situation in general, including how to deal with media questions, and Kaepernick didn't have that type of plan.
