I'm Impressed By Sen. Richard Blumenthal, (D-Conn) Every Time I Hear Him....

on the cable news programs. Do you think he could be a good Dem candidate for President in 2020?

1. He's one of the best. Love his slow, thoughtful, calculated speaking style.

He's one of Chris Matthews' (whom I love) favorite pols too.

2. I think he should be asked if he is interested in running for that office. I believe that

representatives are able to be much more beneficial to society serving unlimited terms in office rather that a scant total of 8 years.

My favorite example is Ted Kennedy. Elizabeth Warren and even Bernie Sanders come to mind too.

That said, I think he'd be a very good candidate. Connecticut's loss would be our gain.

3. Yes, I'm impressed too. He's on 'Morning Joe' quite often and I always sit up and listen.

I think he's a very intelligent, compassionate and sober guy.

He's thoughtful, chooses his words carefully. No drama or hysterics.

I love Adam Schiff for many of the same reasons.

4. He is consistently excellent. I would be pleased!

How old is he? How is his health? Is he crazy enough to actually want to wade into this free-for-all that we are about to witness?

5. I like him a lot, also, but why run someone easily attacked?

He had the controversy about saying he served in Vietnam when he really did not. That would be an easy layup attack angle for the GOP if he ran. I am not saying that his Vietnam war statement makes him someone bad in my eyes. I really like him.

But why make it easy for the GOP to attack our candidate when we have so many good possibilities who, on a relative basis, do not give the GOP an easy attack route? We MUST win the next time!

6. Here's What Wikipedia Says About That Incident.....

Blumenthal received at least five draft deferments during the Vietnam War before enlisting. He served in United States Marine Corps Reserve units in Washington, D.C., and Connecticut from 1970 to 1976.
He attained the rank of sergeant and received an honorable discharge at the end of his enlistment.
During his 2010 Senate campaign, news reports that Blumenthal had lied about his military service by indicating that he'd served "in Vietnam" during the war created a controversy.
Blumenthal denied that he had intentionally lied and apologized for remarks he said had not been "clear or precise" about his Vietnam service.

I hear what you are saying about him as a candidate - but consider who he'd be running against from the Repugs if Trump doesn't suffer any consequences from the Mueller Investigation.

Trump never served in the military. And he is a pathological liar. I think I'd take my chances running Blumenthal against him.

7. Let's not hand over an attack angle on a silver platter!

Again, I like him a lot, but, given that we have many fine possible candidates to run, why choose one with that problem?
