General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI firmly believe that MSNBC,
While having some great folk like Rachel and Lawrence, and Ali, and some others, has some sleeper agents like Pete Williams, Andrea Mitchell, Tweety (to an extent), and some others as well.
Williams feigned shock at the outrage of the judge today is indicative of the Jack Welch Superego which still pervades the network. The normalization of the Joe and Mika clown car show wherein they portray the Trumpan Show as utterly ridiculous, this again, normalizing guys like Jeb, Marco, and the like as more than acceptable is not the hallmark of a supposedly tolerably center-left network.
Just saying...

(29,855 posts)he complains about the election shenanigans of Trump and the complacence of the Republicans...
But forgets that this is the party of Karl Rove, Lee Atwater, Donald Segretti and all of the "dirty tricksters" of Nixon.
Of St Ronnie and the Treason of the Iran hostage trading (Iran Contra) orchestrated by the late and recently lamented GHW Bush, and Oliver North.
Trump and Flynn and Cohn and Manafort is simply this activity taken to an extreme

they regurgitate two Koch brothers disinformation pieces. They use just as much twisted, coded language BS as the rest.
*Late Edit...enjoy the kool-aid. Have fun watching Tweety and Joe and Andrea and Chuck to get your 'news'.

(5,228 posts)programs are you watching?
I watch Chris Hayes (my favorite), Rachel, some Lawrence, some Ali Velshi, some Ari, and Nicole Wallace. None of those programs at least do that ...
they are a corporation, owned by comcast, one of the most ripoff monopolies in the usa. They never, ever mention net neutrality. I don't trust MSNBC any more than I trust Fox but I do appreciate them throwing us a bone now and then in the form of excellent reporting by a very few, including Maddow.
ZeroSomeBrains
(638 posts)I give them between one hour to three depending on how much energy I have to stay awake. Ari and Ali Velshi are good from what I see as well. Beyond that you're deluding yourself if you think they aren't shilling for right-wing BS.

(638 posts)I start with Hayes and at best go through O'Donnell. I go to bed super early because I try to start work at 7AM so that's mostly why. I like sleeping in on weekends so I catch Joy Reid occasionally.

(31,011 posts)Geez, that sounds like RW bullshit. I think we're better than this.
And for the record, I like Pete Williams. He usually puts the truth out as it really is without any slant one way or the other.
Just sayin'.
PCIntern
(26,569 posts)You see, Fox makes no bones about being RW shills. MSNBC advertises using Rachel and Kawrence, and then subverts the message with Joe and Pete and Andrea.
Its so nice you like him. Opinions, however, do vary.
cynatnite
(31,011 posts)I get the reasons why they might not be liked, but the rhetoric is just not called for.
I must be dumb, because I don't feel like they're subverting a message.

(26,569 posts)To Rachel or Lawrence from the night before? Never or nearly never. He has his own agenda.
cynatnite
(31,011 posts)But I've heard him refer to one of them more than once. So does Mika.
Not only that, Andrea guests on Rachel's show, too, from time to time. I think Rachel's been on Andrea Mitchell once or twice. They don't do it often because of obvious reasons. They each have their own shows.
They are not sleeper agents. You just don't like how they report the news or express their opinions.

(26,569 posts)I dont know why people take offense at an allusion or metaphor. Its supposed to be half-humorous. Do people really take themselves and this board that seriously?
cynatnite
(31,011 posts)I get the hate some have for them, but there's no reason whatsoever to call them basically terrorists. It's just plain wrong.
PCIntern
(26,569 posts)They could just be spies planted and possibly used for info later.
cynatnite
(31,011 posts)Is it that hard for you to admit you made a mistake in calling them that?
Can anyone be so full of hate and mistrust that they will throw around terms like this and think it's deserved? Are we that far gone than we don't even have a sense of our own morals anymore? No wonder the divisions are so bad.
PCIntern
(26,569 posts)Can you just stop righteously and sanctimoniously pontificating for a moment and concede that you are well-aware if EXACTLY what I meant.
cynatnite
(31,011 posts)It didn't come across to me as a joke or an "expression".
I've always respected you, but maybe I've missed something somewhere. I've never known you to throw this kind of rhetoric around.
No matter how you meant it, it was wrong. If you'd aimed it Flynn or someone who was actually complicit in undermining this country, then I couldn't argue with it. But at news personalities...yeah, I'm bothered by it.
So i humbly apologize.
I guess Im as sensitive to these issues as a toilet seat.

(7,923 posts)Or semi-facetious. I never thought you meant they were agents, although some of them - Williams in particular - spout the establishment line.

(26,569 posts)They are practicing opinion-making under the advertising and ostensible influence of liberals. The network attracts viewers by advertising their liberal personalities and then you get to watch Joe in the morning. Thats bait and switch.
And I was only pointing out the obvious.
cynatnite
(31,011 posts)These are varying personalities with wide-ranging opinions. Joe's show is not and never has been advertised as anything but what it is. What I like is that their guests are more reasonable and logical people. What I also like is the fact that Joe and Mika's politics have changed enough that they refuse to identify themselves are repubs. What I also like is that they call tRump for what he is and they do it on a regular basis.
Yes, they get on Dems sometimes. Sometimes I agree and sometimes I don't.
Sometimes it seems like the animosity is so strong that it warps the ears and eyes.

have the best team. FOX is mostly propaganda. CNN is a bad mix of various types. At least, the Joe & Mika clown show is sometimes on the right track and we don't have those weekly 20-minute Mika rants about Hillary's emails, anymore, and Andrea Mitchell panting while revealing more sordid emails were falling into her greedy hands...
