CNN: Stone entered the CH with his legs shackled and his hands shackled to his waist.
Damn, they used the leg shackles!

39. You need a passport even if you're traveling by private plane.
An international flight on a private aircraft has to make prior arrangements with customs officials; you can't just waltz into another country without a passport because you arrived in your own airplane.

43. You can if you are their guest
The principal utility of a passport is to make it easier to re-enter the US.
Yes, of course, a lot of countries won't let you enter if you just show up without one. Some do, some don't. You can just walk right into Mexico at the pedestrian crossing at San Ysidro - no questions asked other than "Taxi?" If you do that without a passport, you'll have no problem until you want to get back into the US. (Ultimately, it will just slow you down a lot, since as a US citizen you have an inherent right to enter the US.) Snowden got into Russia after revocation of his passport just fine. If the Russians want to welcome Stone into their country in whatever manner he gets there, then that's entirely up to the Russians. What he would not want to do is to transit through any other country in the process. If he leaves the US and the US notifies Interpol of the warrant, then he can be stopped and detained during international transit through any country which will honor the Interpol notice. |

The Constitution forbids excessive bail. Does denial of bail happen? You bet it does - but only under limited circumstances. Stone is a non-violent criminal with no reason to believe he is a flight risk. Please explain how the criteria for denial of bail would apply to Stone. This may help: https://www.lawyers.com/legal-info/criminal/criminal-law-basics/denying-bail-for-a-dangerous-defendant.html Hostility to the rule of law tends to be a regular feature of DU discussions, though. |

57. Those weren't there when the FBI first went to his front door.
The arrest video that is out there just shows FBI agents going to Stone's door, him opening it, then it cuts off. But no tarps and canopies.
Looks like those tarps and canopies were put up after the arrest, as they were executing their search warrant on Stone's house. Looks like they've settled it for the day for the warrant search. I bet they'll find some amazing stuff. I wonder how the FBI got Stone from the front door to their vehicles. They may have seen the media out front, so they brought a vehicle around back and loaded him in. Regardless, it is pretty clear CNN was just monitoring the indictment filings and following a hunch, and got lucky. But still did not get the money shot of Stone in shackles. If there was a tip off by Mueller, Mueller would have let CNN get that shot. Obviously they did did. Plus, the Mueller team would never tip off. The Mueller team members, like Mueller, don't leak. |
