Mind boggling indeed. Sometimes I really dont know WTF they stand for. Low intellect individuals with nothing better to do than put on blinders and follow President whats his name down the drain.

(42,360 posts)Ive been keeping an eye on their FB page and it looks like Crenshaw was a big hit. One of the comments was someone asking him to consider running for Pres. in 2024. Other activities that evening included honoring veterans and auctioning off MAGA hats autographed by Trump, so it looks like cognitive dissonance is alive and well in the Collin Co Republican Party.

(3,335 posts)is some of the hardest training a sailor will ever go through. I have no doubt that this man is capable of handling himself unlike candidate-5-deferments-bone spurs. I hope Bob Kerry keeps riding Trump's behind on this issue and doesn't let up. Everyone should keep this story alive. Trump likes to hide behind the military in public, but when he had the opportunity to serve, he gave his country his middle finger. So now he wants to disparage the Navy Seal who spoke up for John McCain.

Kerrey, was awarded the Medal of Honor on May 14, 1970. It reads:
"For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving as a SEAL team leader during action against enemy aggressor (Viet Cong) forces. Acting in response of reliable intelligence, Lt. (J. G.) Kerrey led his SEAL team on a mission to capture important members of the enemy's area political cadre known to be located on an island in the bay of Nha Trang. In order to surprise the enemy, he and his team scaled a 350-foot sheer cliff to place themselves above on the ledge on which the enemy was located. Splitting his team in two elements and coordinating both, Lt. (J. G.) Kerrey led his men in the treacherous downward descent to the enemy's camp. Just as they neared the end of their descent, intense enemy fire was directed at them, and Lt. (J. G.) Kerrey received massive injuries from a grenade which exploded at his feet and threw him backward onto the jagged rocks. Although bleeding profusely and suffering great pain, he displayed outstanding courage and presence of mind in immediately directing his element's fire into the heart of the enemy camp. Utilizing his radioman, Lt. (J. G.) Kerrey called in the second element's fire support which caught the confused Viet Cong in a devastating crossfire. After successfully suppressing the enemy's fire, and although immobilized by his multiple wounds, he continued to maintain his calm, superlative control as he ordered his team to secure and defend an extraction site. Lt. (J. G.) Kerrey resolutely directed his men, despite his near unconscious state, until he was eventually rescued by helicopter. The havoc brought to the enemy by this very successful mission cannot be over-stated. The enemy soldiers who were captured provided critical intelligence to the allied effort. Lt. (J. G.) Kerrey's courageous and inspiring leadership, valiant fighting spirit, and tenacious devotion to duty in the face of almost overwhelming opposition sustain and enhance the finest traditions of the U. S. Naval Service."

Haggis for Breakfast
(6,831 posts)has a name. It's Dan Crenshaw. And he is a decorated member of the U S NAVY SEALS. He served ten years in the SEALS and deployed three tours of duty in the Middle East, earned TWO Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart, and the NAVY/USMC Commendation Medal with VALOR. While on duty in Helmond, he was hurt when an IED exploded near his face. He lost the vision in his right eye and had several surgeries to save the vision in his left eye. AFTER his injuries, he continued to serve and was deployed again to Bahrain.
If you don't agree with his politics, I get it.
But don't you dare EVER call him "that eyepatch fuck" again. Dan Crenshaw served this nation with honor, distinction and integrity. And that still matters to some of us.
SEMPER FORTIS.

(2,343 posts)respect anyone who still aligns themselves with this "republican" party, even if they served in the military. I would've treated those who served in the German military and were part of the nazi party the same way.
He wants a country where our lgbtq brothers and sisters have no rights, where women shouldn't be able to choose to have an abortion, where Russian oligarchs are able to pick the US president, where our environment is destroyed because of fossil fuels, and I could go on and on.
He's not someone I will ever respect.
