The bipartisan group of members of Congress was most frustrated with not learning about the hacks sooner. The first word of at least one intrusion came from a single line in special counsel Robert Mueller's redacted report, which was released publicly in April.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis then confirmed on Monday, after his own briefing with the FBI, that Russian attackers actually breached two Florida counties.
"This chaotic dribs and drabs of information that's coming out is doing more harm to our constituents' faith in the electoral system than just coming out and providing some information," said Rep. Stephanie Murphy, a Democrat who represents Florida's 7th District.
The lawmakers were briefed on which of Florida's 67 counties were successfully breached, but they, like DeSantis, said they could not disclose that information.

(3,335 posts)information about breached polls or polling data. What is the purpose of withholding the information? Ignorance is not bliss. We've spent two and a half years doing NOTHING when we should have taken that time making changes to our current systems so we can do the best we can to bulletproof our election systems in every county across this nation, while we had the time. No one breaches election systems for the thrill of it. They are there to change the outcome, duh!!!!
Harsh penalties should also apply to those who breach campaign headquarters and campaign data. The safeguarding of technology is always going to be behind the genius of those who would choose to breach those systems as long as we're dependent of human beings to secure that data. We don't blame banks when they are robbed so we should leave no stone unturned when election systems are breached and impose the harshest sentences when the perps are identified, regardless of where on this planet they are found.
