How and why Democrats should re-focus attacks on Republicans, rather than Trump?
Donald Trump and the Executive Branch are in the process of taking power away from the Congress, as given to the House of the People by our Constitution. That would be in the area of subpoenas and oversight responsibility. Once it is gone, it will not be easily restored, if ever?
Republicans have been silent as the Executive Branch has declared itself exempt from following the present laws of our nation. They have decided that they can defy and ignore subpoenas from the Congress of the United States. Republicans are pretending that this will never affect them or perhaps, they simply do not care? But, there may come a time when an issue of national security requires them to subpoena someone to come before the Congress to answer questions and they are told to go pound sand. If it is not challenged now, Republicans will then be on the losing side. If it is not challenged by the entire Congress, in a bi-partisan way, it will be a loss for the separation of powers and for our country. Republicans that cannot fight to protect their branch of power are betraying their oath to defend our Constitution. It is not just a fight for the Democrats. It is a fight for Mitch McConnell and the US Senate also. Perhaps the focus should be on those that are shirking their responsibilities?

1. Go after McConnell. He knew the country was going to be flipped before the election.
But in what capacity? And what does he know? And why did he do what he did? That is what we should be asking.

2. Call them by name
Republicans.
Obama never did this. Almost until the very end of his sabotaged presidency, he repeatedly called on “Congress” to act. As messaging goes, his failure to attack the Republicans by name was a disaster. The closest Biden ever came was in the debate with Ryan when he said, “this is not your father’s Republican Party folks.” Which was only half a call-out as it suggested there was a decent Republican Party in the not-too distant past (“grandfather’s” would have been more like it). Now Biden is campaigning on bipartisanship and the prospect of Republican epiphanies. It’s insane, IMHO, and one of many reasons why I won’t consider voting for him in the primary. The basic lines of attack should be clear. Republicans have been distributing income upwards since 1981 and they would bankrupt the government and render it incapable of performing its core public functions if unchecked. Their mission is to make the world safe for the very wealthy and good luck to the rest of you. Don’t go after McConnell. Don’t personalize it. Call the problem by name: Republicans. I have spent much of my adult life dumbstruck by the apparent unwillingness of the vast majority of Democratic candidates and elected Democrats to do this consistently and with force. Better late than never. |

3. I agree. I do in my conversation always including Republicans in the state of affairs today,
Instead of just Trump. Republicans are absolutely the ones responsible and I do not want them to get an out.

6. IMO McConnell is a bigger problem than Trump.
He's sitting on 100 pieces of legislation passed by the House and promises to squash an impeachment trial. He's in it for something other than the American people. Someone should look into the Russia ties re the family business because there's a real smell of corruption around him.
