and saves us all a million bucks or so down the road, that's fine with me. That is what I and my oldest conservative friend agreed on one day. He passed away a couple years ago but was a true small business type conservative.
No one even dares mention that aspect. I don't think we even need a huge study, though there no doubt have been many, that that situation leads to parents and kids that do end up on public assistance. Plus medical expenses, incarceration and whatever else you could come up with.
Think about how many that without that one mistake could have went to school and ended up being successful, and paying taxes all their lives as well as all the expenses involved in maintaining a household and raising a planned family later on. So the cost of all the expense of the screwup, added to what was lost if they could have just fixed their mistake is huge.
My old friend and I also agreed on religion. Over thousands of years, they just made all that up to control people. He was a good man and I miss him. We could use a few more like him now.

(5,507 posts)That the drop in Crime in the late Twentieth Century directly correlates to the effects of Roe-v-Wade.

I originally remember seeing that as a chapter in Freakonomics. I happen to agree with it. Makes perfect sense to me.

(21,646 posts)I remember reading in one of pamphlets she had laying around back then and that was over 25 yrs ago so the total number would much higher now if Roe Wade never happened, but anyway it said that legal pro choice options for women kept the number of prisoners for crime from being the additional size of another Rhode island in additional prison population
Many have as you say " nothing going " for them because they are 14, raped, drug addicts, alcoholics, homeless,in poverty, ill , happily married and just had a baby then accident and can not afford it or maybe mentally challenged . All know they do not want be pregnant That they do have that going for them .
all will be adopted they say? Who is looking to adopt and can provide for a black drug addict's HIV + addicted baby many special needs on top of a heart problem detected in the womb after she was denied an abortion?
Well i will tell you that one sector of society did want black HIV+ babies that I know of and that was POC homosexual couples who found it hard to adopt back then but now the same Rw fundis are reverting back to not letting homosexuals adopt either !!! and of course not all ill children of any color may be able to be adopted by a family . Some will need to be in a facility that can care for them properly
There are a lot of babies born to drug addicts or other issues happening even with abortion being legal
No abortion period will mean many children born with severe health issues that were detected in the womb but cruelly they could not terminate .
Imagine what that women and child have going for them forward
Yet there still are a lot of children of the state, foster agencies and private adoption agencies plus already places that help pregnant women find adopting couples but IT should be the women's choice to decide imo.
Many agencies are already overwhelmed

(9,435 posts)... the secretary or waitress they knocked up. You would think they would want to avoid the alimony payments, but they have been working hard also to change state laws to put limits on the amount women can collect on alimony too. So if you have enough money, those payments can be negligible as well.
When you start talking about inner city single mom's, its quite a different tune that they sing.
