You know Trump will go full dictator any minute

Last edited Wed Oct 2, 2019, 03:04 PM - Edit history (1)

Like his authoritarian heroes in Russia, North Korea, Brazil, and the Philippines, Trump will increase his dictatorial ravings and try and declare Martial Law, dissolve Congress, and use the justice system to prosecute his political enemies. Critics falling accidentally out of windows, being shot by people in passing cars, and being jailed en masse will be just the beginning.

Right-wing splinter groups will fall in line to support him, the military will fracture, and we may just see a full out American Civil War again in this country. Sound ridiculous? Remember who we're dealing with here and the money and power behind the GOP, Trump's GOP. Trump has already raised $125 million for the 2020 campaign. That ain't a lot of people backing away from his insanity.

They're not even close to it.

What if he had Barr send people to arrest and jail Schiff on some made up charges? No doubt he could get one of his judges to sign off on it. We're really close to him doing something like that.

What is realism under Trump and his Swamp crew? Come on...we know that the Republicans aren't going to do anything against him, those who can are running away now...those that are of the same mind as Trump continue to defend him...and there doesn't look to be anyone breaking ranks.

Most if not all his advisers and White House crew, are already in deep...the only way to keep from going to prison is to back him, no matter what he does...we know he has a base that will support him, we know that the majority of Republicans in Congress support him, we know that right wing xtians support him

What we don't know is what will he do, now that's realism...

Joe Nation, the Republicans have been trying to do this institutionally for over 30 years now. The most important lessons from that are that they are doing it and having some successes and that the value and resilience of our systems is something we can both believe in and be proud of and need to act to protect.

That Trump can get away with anything illegal is a measure of the Republicans' corruption, but that doesn't mean he can name himself dictator.

That's the definition of a coup. He told us in his own way, (projecting it onto Dems) and everything is adding up now. He did say, "When I took over the United States." Ah, but there is so much more.

I am waiting to see what happens with the subpoenas because the response and consequences really matter most right now. This is crucial.

So he can by declaration announce martial law, then bypass Congress and all the courts. He's desperate and knows he's heading to prison when he loses, which he will, so he has to try this. He'll declare he's the leader and has the rights doing this.

I know about the Civil War. Very ugly thing, indeed. It's not really a current topic, though. It happened long ago, and things have changed dramatically since then. We're not going to replay that episode again.

You're making some pretty broad declarations about what is going to happen, but you're not supporting them with any facts.

I'll say this, and then I'm out of this thread: You're incorrect in your predictions.

But this country has safeguards against it, and a population that will not stand for it. The money he's raised comes from a few (corrupt) sources, not from the masses.

In his warped little mind, he thinks he should be president for life and the start of a dynasty! He wants the whistleblowers names so he can punish them, wants anyone who speaks against him to resign or be fired, uses language like "enemy of the people" to refer to the Free press, shows willful disregard for the Constitution and the rule of law, mistrusts most including many who swear oaths of loyalty and sign non-disclosure statements, and there are so many more examples of his abuses of power and attempts to control.

If he tries to go "full dictator" he will be stopped. We here at DU often laugh at his diatribes because they are ridiculous, before or after we are incensed and disgusted by them.

Especially because impeachment inquiries have begun, he will rant and rave, and try to control more, but will not be able to. His acting cast of characters may support and encourage him, but that won't get him what he ultimately wants. I agree he will try to seize more power.

We the people, and our elected officials will not permit it!
