Their problem is their beliefs. We think they’re homophobic because they are homophobic. We think they’re narrow-minded because they prove it every damn day. “Puritanical”? Just look at the way they handle sex education, purity culture, and women’s rights.
Why would anyone want to join this club? These aren’t people who were tainted by Donald Trump. They’re people who had the power to steer him in any direction they wanted, and they decided to go with cruelty and corruption.

of evangelicals by non-evangelicals isn't higher. And they are just like their dear leader. and people like SHS. Completely delusional about who and what they are. I really do think most of these people are just mentally ill.

Interesting quote in the comments from Barry Goldwater over half a century ago:

"“Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them.”
