A sci-fi writer couldn't have written a crazier story than what we are dealing with in Trump.

I was reading transcripts from today's COVID-19 tv briefing by Trump.
He is lying so much.
He's not even TRYING to cover up any of his previous statements—he just plain denies he said that, or pretends it never happened.

Reading the text is much more telling than watching videos. It's jaw-dropping.
I'm beginning to think that's the problem with our society today: they don't read the news, they watch it. I think reading something sits in your brain longer.

Mr. Trump, who spent weeks downplaying the threat of the virus — and who has retreated from his recent suggestion that social distancing could be scaled back in mid-April — congratulated himself for projections showing that public health measures may dramatically limit the national death toll.

“What would have happened if we did nothing? Because there was a group that said, ‘Let’s just ride it out,’” Mr. Trump said, without saying what “group” he was referring to.

Mr. Trump said that as many as 2.2 million people “would have died if we did nothing, if we just carried on with our life.”

“You would have seen people dying on airplanes, you would have seen people dying in hotel lobbies — you would have seen death all over,” Mr. Trump said. By comparison, he said, a potential death toll of 100,000 “is a very low number.”

Trump interjected to berate him about a fumbled vaping flavor ban. Azar asked a confidante for advice about how to break through to Trump."

why should he stop now? No matter how much he lies, how he's called out about it, it doesn't
he shake his support. They watch a channel (Faux) that doesn't even mention the lying.

but couldn't comprehend any of it. The whole thing was sentence fragments, run-ons, tangents and it made NO sense what so ever. It needed to be translated into English.

probably around 1977 is when i started. I have an entire book shelf crammed with King books.

Nothing in them prepared me for this real life horror.

If this was my parent, getting up in front of the world talking like he does, i would step in and do something. I guess his kids are just as selfish and ignorant as he is.

How about Trump as "The Mule?"

One day, 1984 may end being considered historical fiction.

Trump is now running in place, warming up for the victory lap. He says he sees a "light at the end of the tunnel" And the light is Trump.

Would be a comic hoot, except that movie was supposed to be serious. Same situation here.
They've bungled everything, stomping forward, backtracking at manic pace, saying stupid things, denying they said stupid things...
It would be a comical "end of the world" parody, except it's real & people are dying.
