Carol Burnett is a Rachel Maddow fan...

What are you watching, reading, playing or listening to as a reprieve?

My husband and I watch old movies, play Scrabble, do crosswords and go for walks. We've watched Singing in the Rain, which I know by heart, but I can always watch it again — and again and again. And I watch the news. The newscasters I watch the most are Jake Tapper and Rachel Maddow. And Randy Rainbow.

Nice interview with Carol burnett

we are staying home, which means I have time on my hands, which means I'm baking......

Right now, it's banana bread. Last week, it was thumbprint shortbread cookies (twice - they were that good).

Fortunately, there are plenty of weeds to pull in the yard, which I am definitely counting as exercise!

Rachel is an absolute staple in our house.

I actually found the recipe here on DU! I doubled it because the original one didn't make enough cookies! Almond flour is available in nearly any grocery store or Costco, for that matter. The recipe is also gluten free, if that matters.

Ingredients:

6 Tbls. softened butter
2 cups almond flour
6 Tbls. powdered sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla extract
jam of your choice

Method:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Cream the butter well (I use a stand mixer) and the flour, sugar, salt, and vanilla. Blend well until it forms a ball of dough. Scoop a rounded teaspoon of dough out and roll into a ball. Press the ball down with your thumb to make a small well. Scoop approximately 1/4 tsp. of jam into the depression. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Allow the cookies to cool slightly and then remove them from the baking sheet to cool completely on a rack. If you don't have any parchment paper, remove the cookies from the baking sheet right away, or they will stick.

Enjoy!

many are going to die.. I remember “The Carol Burnett Show.” When it first aired the show came on at 10:00 est, on Monday, CBS. My mom, who passed Jul 2018, always watched her show. By the way Mom hated Trump, and I’m glad she’s not here to see this.

They show the live one on the west coast at 6 pm (9 pm eastern) and then they re-run the same show again at 9 pm west coast. So if you miss the live show, you can watch the rerun 3 hours later.

I'm going on long rides and enjoying the fresh air and solitude! I'm also cooking for a friend's family because she has an injury. My work schedule has been cut in half, but at least I'm still working.

As does Tim Conway's dentist and little old man. And the fact that Vicky Lawrence (Mama) calls him a "little asshole" at the end of this is unbelievable!

He would rehearse a scene a little differently every time, and at least one skit on show night often had a complete surprise come out of nowhere. Poor Harvey Korman got the worst of it. I love that Vicki got him back good this time. Even Tim was just wrecked by her response.
