Severe Weather Team 2 says the tornado threat for north Georgia has ended after severe weather moved in overnight.

The storms produced several tornadoes, and brought more damaging winds, heavy rain and hail. The confirmed tornadoes were reported in Thomaston, South Fulton, Putnam and Chattooga counties. But crews are assessing if others touched down.

There are more than 100,000 reports of power outages across north Georgia as of 6:30 a.m.

At least seven people were killed earlier Sunday in Mississippi as tornadoes tore through.

Here’s the latest:

Gov. Brian Kemp declares a State of Emergency due to “extensive storm damage” in Georgia.

during the night and left a bit of small yard litter scattered about. No power outage and no damage locally that I know of, thank goodness. It sounds as if the northern part of the state is where the worst of the storms hit. Family in Atlanta report the same: loud but no damage in their neighborhood.

I feel for folks in north Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi right now.
