You know, I don't like to stay at home. I live alone & call friends, read DU, clean house, etc.

...I have had very serious medical issues, and would like to live longer. , so I stay at home. This ain't no game. This is life and death, so I stay home. I have been to hospitals for long stays and recovered. Staying at home is awful, but getting pneumonia is far more awful.....
...... Trump & DeSantis are clueless and quite stupid, and most of us know that.

I hate leaving the house. I don't call friends. I do read DU. So, part is not the opposite.

If I could have it the way I want it, I would have everything I need delivered once or twice a month and never leave the house again. I would try to make it like in the movie, Nell, where she would put some money on a tree stump then the groceries would get delivered there and she would go back later to pick them up when no one was around. I would love that so much.

It’s not that I don’t like people, because I can enjoy a conversation, but strangers don’t converse. It’s all shallow platitudes and it doesn’t fill any void in me so I stay in with my cat.

I paint and I visit DU and I correspond with one friend via email. I get my groceries delivered too. And I’m more content than I’ve ever been. I simply don’t want the hassle.

If I am having a good chat with a friend, that's one thing, but strangers wanting to chat in public is usually not so interesting to me. Depending on the situation, it can actually tire me out, more than physical work can. It's not that I don't like people so much as I can usually tell where something is going. If the conversation is obviously going to be a one time thing, and I will most likely never see that stranger again, I keep it to a minimum and go on about my day as soon as I can.

But it's never to mingle with crowds. Much happier rattling around bush tracks and empty beaches with my dog, so the lockdown is not particularly onerous for me. Like you, I never ring people just for a chat.

it is to walk in the woods or just tool around in my own backyard to enjoy the wildlife and scenery.

I live alone in a small apartment. I do like to get out, but not necessarily for 'social' functions other than breakfast with my bro every week or so. I don't do church, and gave up my 12 step meeting a few years back. I don't go to bars or games.

So SIP is fairly comfortable for me. I don't do the delivery thing, though. I still like to pick out my own groceries, risky as that behavior might be.

If husband gets it - he's gone. So we don't plan on changing anything. Round 2 is going to be rough and we don't want to give the virus a crack at us.

It's one foot in front of the other, dear friend. Like you said, pneumonia is far more awful than being home. Besides, all you DU folk are around. Someone is always around here to gab.

Nite for now!

Undeniable about the serious need for everybody to take care. "Staying at home is awful"... is one of the side effects we're finding out. Even for some of us whose life isn't much changed except for spotty outings in "normal" life, the whole ambiance of constant dreary news on top of what we've all been going through with SHITLER for these years is also undeniably dragging, too. Thanks for the clarity and honesty.

I fucking hate it. Literally everything I love to do involves being outside of the house - going to bars and breweries, traveling, going to see live music, sports, movies. Nearly all of it is off limits right now.

I would love to do this stuff again which is why I'm staying home. I don't want to stay home, but the alternative is far worse.
