Miami Beach closes park just five days after reopening as nearly 8,000 break face mask and distance

Not even a week since reopening, the city of Miami Beach closed the popular South Pointe Park back up after thousands of visitors failed to wear face coverings and social distance to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

The Miami Beach Police Department announced Monday that the park was closed until further notice after they issued 7,329 verbal face cover warnings and more than 470 warnings for failing to social distance between Friday and Sunday. City Manager Jimmy Morales said the efforts by city authorities to enforce the rules were met with hostility.

"We tried in good faith to open our parks to help folks get out and about safely. In almost every other park in the city, this experiment has been successful. South Pointe Park is the most egregious exception," Morales said in a statement to CNN. "We have had city staff in the park to encourage people to comply, but they were met with hostility and non-compliance."

"There is no way to effectively enforce social distancing when hundreds of individuals refuse to do so. The best way to protect our residents and first responders is to keep it closed until further notice," Morales added.

There is no cure for stupidity........

There have been factions on the left that have predicted a civil war........I sorta dismissed them......

As we see more of these insurrections, I'm beginning to wonder........

Insurrection: "an act of revolting against civil authority or an established government.....(merriam webster dictionary)

What was that movie years ago with the little boy saying: "I see dead people, they are everywhere".......Not much different than what you and I are seeing every day all over America.......

It's just too damn bad this virus isn't "Political Party Selective"

Too bad it isn't "GOP/Dem selective". We certainly would see major changes (for the good) if it were.

is that the triage nurses in Hospitals consult their States voter registrations list before making any decision about treatment....ie who gets a ventilator and who doesn't.

The RepubliCON voters grew this, they should chew it.

Or, like someone suggested, have them sign a card to present at the Hospitals, that they have chosen to not to wear a mask, that they choose to go out in mass groups, and therefore give up the right to any and all medical help should they get the Covid19....Or, even better yet, Tatoo a big red "R" on all of their foreheads........

In January, when my wife and I were listening to the CDC and Who, we made plans and stocked in a whole big bunch of stuff. Basically non-perishable food and all the stuff that now greets the public with empty shelves. One of our R neighbors saw us unloading on one of our trips and shouted out "HOAX" and was laughing at what they perceived was our libtard ignorance of reality. These days, when we see them, they just glare at us......LOL Despite all that has happened to them and the other R's, they are still major Trumphumpers.......

Ignorance should be painful. Maybe it is time for the Darwin Awards to kick back in, en masse........

Regardless of how frustrating the actions of some may be, lumping an entire group of citizens together as deserving to die is just wrong. The real blame goes to the utter lack of responsibility shown by the toddler at the top and the people at FOX who keep egging it on.

And this is the future as we try to re-open the nation's economy. Stupid people will keep this pandemic raging and cripple the economy at the same time.

People aren't going to observe measures for their own safety. Mike DeWine of Ohio, are you listening? Yeah, people don't like the government telling them what to do, but government does it all the time. And in this instance, it's for the common good, and to keep millions of people from getting sick and thousands of people from dying. That's a pretty easy sell, if you're interested in people living out their lives. War isn't very popular, yet we spend $2 billion a day funding our national defense. Isn't a healthy citizenry vital to our nation's defense? Let's spend money helping people through this crisis instead of throwing away money forcing states to bid against each other for medical equipment, or touting miracle cures that are neither.

Listen to the professionals and the experts, not the dimwits demonstrating in the streets in favor of their own demise.

This is a disaster of epic proportions waiting to happen. People are getting a false sense of security because the published numbers are low. It's obviously going to come back and bite DeSantis in the ass when the healthcare system starts to buckle. He'll be responsible for much more than Covid-19 deaths when the elderly aren't able to receive treatment because the hospitals are overwhelmed.

medical centers, who can then exercise triage when those people enter sick.

Under Florida Statutes, Section 784.05, the offense of Culpable Negligence is a serious crime which may be classified as a felony or misdemeanor, based on the circumstances, and includes any acts of gross negligence, exposing others to harm or the threat of harm.

The city can fine and jail such people after the first misdemeanor.

treatment, the cops can issue citations to the jack asses who refuse to take reasonable precautions.

Per your example, the drunk driver gets arrested, even if they were the only one injured. The thief also gets arrested after treatment.

Say the drunk driver wraps his car around a pole, gets out and leaves the vehicle. The police respond. They get the registration and driver's license info out to the ER, in case they show up in the ER. Drunk comes into ER later with a broken arm. The ER/triage nurse will call the police and let them know the person is there. The police will show up to arrest him/her.
