Why the hell is an economic advisor handling infectious disease modeling--You know what, never mind.

The White House is relying on a "cubic model" that predicts deaths will magically go to zero in two weeks.

It was created by a Trump econ advisor who also co-authored "Dow 36,000," which published just before the dot-com crash

I had the misfortune of sitting through two undergrad Economics courses - macro & microeconomics - taught by a bitter prof who was a colleague and worshipper of Robert Laffer (trickle-down infamy). Her humorless brand of teaching allowed no room for dissent and soured me on economic theory as a so-called 'science.'

The president,” Kushner said, “wanted us to make sure we think outside the box

So, they went from outside the box thinking to inside the cubic thinking.

Do they know that means they're still in a box?

Snort.

how they could come up with these numbers:

Even if this guess is wrong, they must have used a very bad model and were stupid enough to believe it.
I'm looking forward to the negative deaths when all those who died will come back.

Look, I’m an engineer. I encounter people every.damn.day that cannot do math.

But these people shouldn’t have even tried. The incompetence is mind blowing.

is that your hopes will soon be dashed onto the sidewalk from a high place.

Trump's hopes are about to be widely splattered.

It is just another way to model behavior.
Indeed economic data can be a valuable tool. If for example you see an increased demand for orange juice and aspirin in an area I'd get the medical team there fast.
