Cops arrest armed men, Texas bar owner who violated order to close

Cops in western Texas said they arrested a bar owner and a group of armed men Monday after they violated the state's order.

Ector County Sheriff Mike Griffis said during a news conference Tuesday that his officers were alerted that the owner of Big Daddy Zane's in West Odessa, Texas, opened her bar even though Gov. Greg Abbott's reopening plan explicitly mandated that bars remain closed. When officers arrived, they saw six men in body armor and armed rifles standing outside the establishment, according to Griffis.

... Griffis said he didn't have more details about the armed men, but said they were not from the town and they were there to intimidate people. He acknowledged the hardships that people are facing because of the coronavirus restrictions, but said there are more civilized ways to express their frustration with the governor's order.

"If you don’t like this, go ahead and vote for another governor," he said.

After Texas City BP in 2005, OSHA prohibited the use of trailers as offices in any plant covered under Process Safety Management.
In Texas, this use of trailers was massive.
They had to have them gone by 2012.
So between 2006 & 2013 those plants were practically giving them away. $600 bucks for moving, $75 bucks to clear title and they were yours.
I'd bet there's tons of businesses in Texas operating out of one of those.

"armed rifles" -

That sounds like loaded rifles.

The police would have to think they meant to use them.

But then again I've seldom seen LEOs in Texas let something like the letter of the law prevent them from making an arrest.

It says several of the dudes were charged with UCW F-3.

UCW is Unlawfully Carrying of a Weapon

I think the F-3 means it is Felony Class 3, but I'm not a lawyer and don't live in Texas. They will likely at least lose the guns in their possession at the time.

I know that sounds horrible, but I cannot shake that thought. It was the first thought that popped into my head, "How kind of them? They let the police arrest them."

I know it sounds backwards, but with Trump on their side, those selfish, armed bullies are in charge of the country right now to a large degree. They are getting their way on reopening states and everything else they want.

If the police do arrest them, it feels more like they let the police arrest them.

government on federal land. The government is afraid of another Ruby Ridge or Waco incident. They've got to improve their methods to firmly enforce the law against armed protestors. Armed protest should be against the law in a country where the right to protest is protected by law.
