Coronavirus In America Looks Like This
May 6, 2020 at 4:15 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard

New York Times: “More than a month has passed since there was a day with fewer than 1,000 deaths from the virus. Almost every day, at least 25,000 new coronavirus cases are identified, meaning that the total in the United States — which has the highest number of known cases in the world with more than a million — is expanding by between 2 and 4 percent daily.”

“Rural towns that one month ago were unscathed are suddenly hot spots for the virus. It is rampaging through nursing homes, meatpacking plants and prisons, killing the medically vulnerable and the poor, and new outbreaks keep emerging in grocery stores, Walmarts or factories, an ominous harbinger of what a full reopening of the economy will bring.”

1. I think people came to think it was a NY problem, and would never hit them.

Now NY numbers are plummeting and the rest of the country thinks that means its over, but the numbers everywhere else are shooting up.

on NYC/State in it's coverage because it got so bad so quickly.

I think though that the numbers and severity we've seen here won't be duplicated anywhere else because of the perfect storm of proximity and the subway/train/bus systems - especially the subway. Thankfully most other areas in this country are a bit more spread out.

more than 40 years later.

Trump's ego makes him want that kind of attention.

As someone who spent decades in and out of these Small Towns and know the local cultures. Yes,they are wearing Rose Colored Glasses and most are saying,"oh it is only in the Cities and along both Coasts",well, when you major Manufacturing Base is a Window and Door Factory that employees 6k people and you are now the Hot Spot of your State,it just kicked in your front door.

lies with the orange mistake who refused to read his daily reports. He sat watching Fox every morning, got to work at noon, on the days he did work. Held rallies, and golfed. Job - what job?? Jared is taking over the entire country, and he does not know what the hell he is doing, either. tRump has never taken the presidency seriously, he is in it for the money. Not the paycheck, he makes much more by ignoring the emoluments clause, and going golfing FREE. The people who tried to warn him about this pandemic, are to blame, too. Why is everyone afraid of the bully, with the tiny brain? They should have protected this country, even though he is not interested. A whistleblower could have saved thousands of lives.

Donny's entire life has been spent watching others do the work then stepping in to take credit while leaving still others to clean up his mess. Self-promotion is all the surly little turd has ever known. I've had co-workers tell me they "wanted a businessman running the country," but they're either lying or weren't paying a bit of attention because he was never a "businessman." I hope the dumbasses are paying attention now.

6. This is the link to the chart Rachel Maddow used to show the spread last night.

Yesterday I checked the charts like I normally do and kept saying, "It is spreading to all the other states, how can we even consider reopening?". Then Maddow's show was on and the first 15 minutes were almost word for word what I said to myself 6 hours earlier. I think she bugged my home. If a moron like me can easily see the numbers increasing in the less populous states, why can't others? Answer..they are self absorbed and dangerous and can't live as a responsible member or a larger society. They need to live on a desert island until they can be a productive member of any society.

The charts from the NYTimes are always updated and it shows which states are on a plateau, and which are increasing and decreasing. It is all over the country. If you take the metro NY, NJ and CT out of the picture the chart shows how cases and deaths are INCREASING across the US.
