Coronavirus is overblown so we need to get kids in school. But it's also bad, so Manafort gets out

The ability to hold two opposing thoughts in your head at the same time is what drives me insane about the trump cult.

They can't have it be both at the same time.

But they do.

Maddening.

Another perfect example. Thank you.

They don’t see any contradiction.
How is that possible?

I just don’t understand how they can hold two opposing viewpoints at the same time and think both things are true.

when they don't want to hear truth.

It is scary to understand the world around you. And probably not as lucrative in some cases.

I remember an older clip of Randi Rhodes on CSPAN when she was debating some airhead and eventually she did that very thing.

i wouldn't want to debate Randi, but damn, that woman folded fast

Parshall or someone? I don't know who she was/is.

The last two books I've read have been about Russia since Putin took over. And what scares me are the similarities. We're moving in the direction of nothing making any sense.

It's being held up for some reason. My guess is that trump is trying to get his valet a job there.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compartmentalization_(psychology)

Compartmentalization is a subconscious psychological defense mechanism used to avoid cognitive dissonance, or the mental discomfort and anxiety caused by a person's having conflicting values, cognitions, emotions, beliefs, etc. within themselves.

The three concepts are not really even related. The thing about coronavirus being overblown is just standard stupidity. Conspiracy theory based on the belief that the government (Even though Trump is the head of government) is lying to us.

The thinking behind the going back to school is based on the erroneous belief that children are not affected by coronavirus. Although the numbers so far show a lower infection rate, we are beginning to see emergence of conditions in children likely caused by the virus. They may remain safer over all, but they are not immune AND they can still carry the virus and bring it back home with them from school.

Finally, the Manafort thing is based on them just wanting people who committed crimes for Trump to be out and free to keep criming for him. The argument is that Manafort is vulnerable to COVID-19 because he is older. However, the facility he was going to has NO problems with the virus.

Three different issues conflated together all based on bad assumptions. Republicans have always been horrific on the use of logic. Their whole ideology is based on emotions, even though they accuse liberals of being overly emotional.

Mom: This is great coffee. What’s your recipe
Me: Four heaping coffee scoops.
Mom: Ooo, that’s too strong. I don’t like strong coffee.

And they wonder why I’m barking mad.
