3. This is another indicator that we are living in historical times

May 2020

This pandemic will be the most studied and scrutinized global medical event in the history of our planet. Each pandemic was covered at the time it broke out with the tools of that time. We know about the Bubonic Plague because of the people who wrote about it, people who experienced it first hand who were historians. What we know about the Spanish Influenza is because there are photos and records which are necessarily incomplete because of the historical gathering tools of the time. We know because of the record keeping tools of the time.

COVID 19 is the most covered global illness ever, in a time of global communication and data rich electronic tools. I think it will actually be a bridge between the past and the future in profound societal changes and in the field of and practices of medicine. We are now in that process of crossing that bridge.

It quite possible the worst is still to come as people who are too stupid to understand what the medical profession is telling us go flooding out into the arms of this virus. I’m sure the second and the subsequent waves of deaths will make the facts sink in and a different world will emerge.

Things are going to be different after this pandemic.

I live in Florida and in this state people went wild to get to the beaches, insanity prevailed. I am afraid now to go to a grocery store.
Florida is not the only State where the beaches went out of control. Also remember today is Sunday the churches are suppose to be filled. I haven't read anything about church attendance yet.

All the trending records will show a gigantic spike in contagion and deaths in the countries that opened too soon.

As I write this, they're showing the footage from Osage Beach, MO, yesterday (Saturday), where people were crowding almost on top of each other at a whale of a pool party. Good GRIEF! And yeah. That'll be it for many of those reckless party-goers. Grief. Of one kind or another. I'd say with that size of crowd of people all over, in, and around that large pool (looked like a hotel pool or some such other large venue), and the numbers we've seen, and just watching the numbers as they grow, I'd say maybe four out of ten of those people will contract it, and of those several-hundred just at THAT pool party, I'd expect maybe as many as five deaths.

And of course then there are those who contract it there this weekend, but don't show symptoms, and carry it back home to Mom and Dad and Grandma and the neighbors and whoever else with whom they come into contact within the next two weeks after this big ol' party weekend. So Heaven only knows how many data points will have been born this weekend.

TWO WEEKS. Watch the numbers. That's when we'll know.

I don't see how it does NOT happen. All that footage on the news of everybody crowding up to the local bar, and on the beach, and no masks, no six-foot separation - how can it be avoided?

I went to the grocery store and picked up a copy of today's New York Times. The one with all the names on the front page. That's all it is, from top to bottom and side to side. Just names. Names of the dead. Names of the victims claimed by the virus. Names. Column after column of names. It says to turn to page 12, and there they are again. More names. Columns and columns of names. To page 13, and over to page 14 also. More names.

And they're only counting to 1000.
