This is going to motivate the hicks in the stix.

The looting and violence on the streets is just going to motivate those rust belt white folks to go out and vote for Trump.

1. Yep. I understand the outage, but I also know how...

... a lot of my fellow whites think and act.

People who are "on the fence" could flip to Trump if it happens for too long, like riots all over the country for weeks leading up to November.

I'm not defending that way of thinking, but I just know that's how it goes.

When cable news was showing so many riots and protests prior to the 2016 election, my heart sank from knowing Trump would get more voters as a result.

Oh, well. People are understandably very upset, but it always makes me sad to see mob behavior from anyone.

5. You explained exactly how I feel.

I can understand the looting but I draw the line at violence or people getting hurt.

2. Might also get the cops to stop killing black people without repercussions.

And those hicks were always gonna vote for the Racist-in-Chief.

3. It hasn't been working well so far.

Strikes me as one step forward, and two steps back. There MIGHT be justice that results in one instance, but other injustices that could result from stereotyping.

If a bunch of Jewish people created chaos because they were angry about a racial injustice, it wouldn't be long until they'd be viewed as a violent threat by many non-Jews. Whether they were rightfully furious over it or not.

So many people's first thoughts over just about anything is, "How COULD this personally affect me?"

Oh, well. I can't control what people do, so I might as well shut up and hope for the best for everyone.

4. The key is to keep those voters suppressed.

and not be motivated to turn out.

7. I think the key is to stop racist cops from murdering

It's either that or thinking about the feelings of some who are privileged enough to not getting executed. Priorities, I guess...

8. We're in a stronger position if our side controls the DOJ.

That's why I care about this.

10. I wouldn't disagree with that

and I also agree that while anger is more than understandable, violent riots likely won't help.
Still, there seems to some kind of privilege talking when in the aftermath of an already restrained AA getting murdered by a racist cop, we can seriously discuss that we have to find ways to address this that keep the feelings of "the hicks" who are afraid of people of color in mind because that definitely shouldn't be the priority of this story.
How about trying to increase not only the turnout of the AA community but of every group that is disgusted by this?

11. That's fair criticism.

You're 100% right. I just always have the politics of things in my head. It's just how I am.

12. Well, "the white folks" who voted for tRUMP in 2016 didn't help him win now, did they? The

fact that tRUMP lost then tells me all I need to know about "the white folks"... I have a lot of confidence
that our human family will continue to do what's best for ALL of us...
