I feel like the opening shots may have been fired in the next civil war. And unlike the previous civil war, there's not going to be any secession involved. And there won't be any formal armies or a formal battle plan in place. Maybe later on down the line but certainly not in the beginning.

And we have a president who is enabling, abetting, and actively encouraging the worst of us. This could get very ugly very quickly.

Repub immigration policy has long been "turn the US into the kind of shithole country nobody would want to come to."

Repub fiscal/economic strategy has long been to restore the Golden Age of the 1880-90's when billionaires owned the government and citizens were left to fend for themselves. IOW a Libertarian hell-hole.

Biden will be lucky if he can fix some of this. It took the Roosevelt/Truman administrations 5 terms, and they only partially succeeded in setting up a 20th Century gov't/social society. The benefits of that lasted until about 1980 or so before the all out attacks of Reagan and his Repub successors since.

This is what I was fearing in 2016, almost exactly what I feared. This outbreak of violence was hardly unpredictable. Americans are finally learning the French model and taking to the streets. With no leadership from the top, it probably won't subside soon.
