You young people need to know

that as bad as things got in the 60s including the nightmare of Chicago democratic convention and the Vietnam war and the turmoil of thecivil rights movement, and the multiple assassinations and tgg ht e Zjent State massacre and the Cold War machinations which one and of themselves were very frightening, , no one for a moment believe that the United States as we knew it would cease to exist, short of a nuclear exchange or a supernova of our Sun.

I personally attended all the major marches on Washington, protested the War, participated in groups and wrote letters and begged others to listen to reason. However: the federal government was fully staffed, the machineries of government ran, and we could pursue our ends to the nest of our abilities, with the foreknowledge that there were mitigating factors such as race and religion which could be difficult to hurdle. However, for the vast majority, there was at least, always hope.

To listen to Governors Pritzker and Cuomo, it seems that we states and commonwealths are now on our own. It is going to be a daunting task to overcome this huge impediment.
