New PPP poll of North Carolina has Biden +4, 49% to 45% for Trump

https://www.publicpolicypolling.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/NCResultsJune2020.pdf

The poll also finds Governor Roy Cooper beating his Republican challenger, Democrat Cal Cunningham beating Thom Tillis, Governor Cooper with 55% approval of how he's handling the coronoavirus crisis, and 57% of respondents thinking it's VERY important that people wear masks, and another 27% thinking it's somewhat important.

This is a state where Trump won by 4 points in 2016. That's also the margin PPP found in their poll respondents when they asked who people had voted for in 2016.

And now Biden is up by 4 points.

And Trump was stupid enough to take on a popular governor, whining because Cooper won't agree months in advance to a convention with no health and safety restrictions, in a state where 84% of people believe it's important to wear masks.

Unfortunately, he also has the power of the presidency behind him, facing down a party which respects the rule of law, unlike the Republican Party. This is our dilemma. Can we survive long enough to remove him through our democratic process of an election?

but I'm not optimistic.

I do think that one of the reasons some of the retired military leaders are speaking out is to reinforce the notion to the troops that they do not need to follow illegal or unconstitutional orders. If they can turn the military against Trump, I'd feel a lot more confident about making it to November.

but unless we get people registered early, and get the vote out, especially get them to vote early, it will be precarious.

The reason voting early will be critical is because I have no doubt they will be trying to close a lot of polling sites.

Ideally, vote by mail, but we cannot count on that since the republicans are trying to put a stop to that, and it is uncertain what the SC will do if it gets there in time
