Asked if there is systemic racism in American police forces, Cuccinelli point-blank responds, No, there is not. There are individuals who are racists, theyre a small number
a bigger problem is simply bullying...Thats a broader problem that captures the racists and captures other problems as well. And I would suggest that since we do NOT have a systemic racism problem in our policing in this country, that we should challenge that attitude when we find it among officers
It is a very tough balancing act
Asked whether George Floyd would be alive today if he had been white, Cuccinelli responds, No, I dont think he would. I think that the behavior by that officer well learn more as the FBI investigation goes on
if theres something special about this guy in terms of racism
George Floyd, of course, is an African American who perished under the knee of Officer Chauvin
What I heard in that 8 1/2-minute clip was someone who was a bully, who was abusing his position of authority and power

Yes, they're bullies. Yes, they kill some while people, too. That does not offer any support for the idea that the racism is not there.
Idiot.

(7,947 posts)A good rule. We need to say, "Well, of course YOU would say that. Racists never admit there's racism."

(32,778 posts)It boils down to 'bullying'. (And, also unsurprisingly, all lives matter.)

(7,947 posts)Like the police are so out of control they'd kill ANYONE. I'm so reassured.
Plus he's a racist stupido. The three cops who helped Chauvin? The medical examiner who put out an initial report suggesting George Floyd sort of coincidentally died at the moment a cop was kneeling on his neck, and it was probably more due to pre-existing conditions and "possible intoxication"?
The prosecutor who dithered, then finally charged minimally, and didn't charge the accomplices?
The police union that always defends abusers? The police union chief who is openly racist?
The police department that fielded many complaints against this officer and still let him out with a badge and gun?
That, Mr. Cuccinelli, is called "systemic racism".

(776 posts)However, in his little mind, he cannot accept that both things can simultaneously be true, systemic racism and bullying, a sense of entitlement by police over the liberty of anybody they perceive as weaker than they. We have seen the brutality demonstrated against children, unarmed peaceful protesters, women and the elderly of all races in these demonstrations. The common thread is that they are perceived as weaker and therefore low hanging fruit to assert their own self perceived authority.
Accepting the truth of either overall bullying or systemic racism does not negate the fact of the other, it, in fact supports the truth and veracity of both.
It is a pretty tortured and twisted rationalization and conjecture of Cuccinelli's though, shows the darkness of his own soul. Sort of a twisted spin on the "All lives matter" concept.
