Because it was there? Now there are probably a couple dozen or more people without jobs.

(14,847 posts)You'd have to ask the person or persons who actually set the fire about their motivations.

(35,143 posts)someone. I don't think it was spontaneous combustion. I don't sit and watch cable TV news 24/7. I have been hearing there is something like an hour long video of it. A f---g hour all I have seen on TV is maybe 10 seconds of it I have heard nothing of any video showing someone setting the fire only showing the building burning.

(35,143 posts)white supremacists were accused, anarchists were accused and there is a CNN interview with a protester that said WE
set the fire. I don't think it was spontanious combustion so I have no idea.

(11,856 posts)Watching the scene play out on live TV , the authorities had a night sun trained on a young white guy breaking the window and running back across the street and retrieving something from a backpack and going back to the window he had just broken and tossed the object in and again ran across the street, picked up the backpack and ran away. Shortly afterwards there was some sort of explosion and the fire was on.
I've been speaking to people all day about this and wondering why this recorded incident has not been the subject of conversation today.
Seems awfully strange to me

(9,313 posts)the power of the 10's of thousands out there protesting effectively in states across the country.
One of the most powerful actions here in Seattle was the silent march of an estimated 60,000 people here in Seattle -- despite horrible weather.
My neighbor was one of the marchers. He said the power of it was indescribable -- he was on the verge of tears throughout.

(51,367 posts)I guess they are angry at the Wendy's because it is assumed a Wendy's employee called the cops on Brooks.
Here's how one protestor explained why they burned the Wendy's:
From CNN's Boris Sanchez
Atlanta protester Joseth Jett explained to CNN's Boris Sanchez on Sunday why someone burned the Wendy's restaurant where Rayshard Brooks was killed in a police shooting.
I do feel bad about people who have lost their job, but at the same time, we burned this building and not any other building around here," Jett said. "We burned this one specifically because of what happened here This goes back to what our mission is, making sure that there is justice served for the person that died over here at this Wendys.
Brooks was fatally shot during an encounter with police on Saturday.
At the end of the day, the man ran. The man tried to escape. There was absolutely no reason why a gun needs to be pulled when a man is trying to run, Jett said.

(53,467 posts)They are agents of those who want the protests look bad. They infiltrate movements to disrupt. Often they are from law inforcement and/or the government. In the '60s there was cointelpro from Hoover's FBI who infiltrated the Black Panther Party. SDS and other groups were also targeted by infiltrators.
Plug in whatever name you want from the rightboogaloo bois is being bandied about, anarchist/alt right thugs, you name it. The right is also trying to insinuate it's antifa to discredit the left. It's an old, ever present element in protests for social change. There are people invested in things not changing.

(35,143 posts)young white guy, agent provocateurs or white supremacists. Post number 17 says CNN interviewed
protestors and they said "WE" did
it. Post number 16 thinks it was a good thing, it brings attention to the shooting. Where I live most people voted for Trump and I have heard some that recently are changing their tune. It is things like that that will push a certain number of moderates or independents back to the Trump side. No it is not good to bring attention that way.
What I conclude is white people did it or if they didn't
it was ok because it brings attention to the cause.

(11,996 posts)and it would/may be lawfully justified. Felony is not fun, nor is getting killed to push a point (no matter how righteous). Arson is taken seriously by we the people for a reason.
Under {NY} law, any person may use deadly physical force upon another individual when he or she reasonably believes it to be necessary to prevent or terminate what he or she reasonably believes to be the commission or attempted commission of arson by such individual.

(37,748 posts)from a social movement of people who have been pushed to the breaking point and then alleging concern seems pretty weak, realizing entire books have been written on that very topic.
Wouldn't a sincere curiosity, a sincere concern. actively seek these answers from the primary and secondary sources? Or are rhetorical questions simply another hipster fashion statement designed to more efficiently advertise our sanctimony?
My guess is the latter. But it's merely a guess.
