Trump's showmanship is now backfiring on him

(CNN)President's Donald Trump's showmanship is failing him as fears mount of a new spike in coronavirus infections and after another shooting of an African American man raised new questions about police brutality.

Instead of addressing such questions directly, Trump is grasping for made-for-TV moments designed to enhance his personal aura -- a device he has used to some effect in his presidency but that is now emphasizing his disconnect with many Americans and struggles to manage crises besieging the White House.

The President's television producer's eye leads him to seek dramatic tableaus that create his preferred image of himself -- strong, defiant, tearing down establishment structures and trampling the normal etiquette of the presidency.
In the most recent example on Saturday, Trump's attempt to wrap himself in the power and prestige of the military failed at a West Point graduation ceremony apparently put on for his benefit, when his creeping walk down a ramp triggered so much social media mockery that he felt the need to explain it in a tweet of his own.

And for all his tweets about law and order, he didn't weigh in on the latest apparent incident of police brutality -- the fatal shooting of Rayshard Brooks in the back in Atlanta, which led to the resignation of the city's police chief -- while secluded at his New Jersey golf resort for much of the weekend.

The President's now notorious march to an iconic church in Washington, DC's Lafayette Square, after protesters were forcibly ejected, was meant to project strength to his supporters, but turned into an emblem of his mismanagement of the George Floyd protests and severely strained his relationship with current and former military brass. A high iron fence erected around the White House then turned into a symbol of the President's disconnect with changes sweeping the nation. Trump's instincts throughout the aftermath of Floyd's death with a police officer's knee on his neck have been to leverage the situation to advance his own political prospects -- rather than to cool tensions and seek national reconciliation. Over the weekend, for instance, he pounced on Major League Soccer's policy of backing the rights of its players to protest during the National Anthem.

is mostly bogus .. and mostly right winger-talk radio-conspiracists fodder

(Undeniably, there are such things as false flags, fake news, dirty tricks .. and other informational skullduggary. But most of them are a bit more sophisticated and thought out than a Craigslist ad. Most of this low level stuff is just some dorky incel making something up as a goof. Hilarious right?)

Those codes would not allow ramps with one foot of drop over a foot of run which is what we need in this case.

Over a 6-foot run, you would ls have a 6-foot drop. I'm guessing that ramp was 30 feet in a run that would equal a 30-foot drop.

It would only take one step forward for gravity to take over.

It was not a complex act. It was enough to fool the foolish once.

Now, most everyone is tired of his act. Unless you have blinders on, you can see he's overmatched by the job and the times.

The only change is that people are finally beginning to tire of it, "overexposure" being a real thing in showbiz. Yes, the money is great, but people can see too much of your character and will start looking for something new.

His personality disorder makes it impossible for him to reinvent himself in a new character, so look for his act to continue to wear poorly. He'll try to keep topping his own stunts, and that will wear even worse, especially on the three legs to his support: religion, police, and military.

There are likely many middle of the road folks who have burn out.
It's no longer different, shocking, or amusing. There's the burn out. Overexposure, indeed!
For us, it was that way before PINO ever announced his campaign.

who fails to understand his pathetic supporters are the minority and very much out of touch with what most Americans want for America. I've said this many, many times: America will survive Donald Fucking Trump, but there REALLY needs to be changes made to the requirements for the presidency. Start with ALL PEOPLE RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT *MUST* RELEASE THEIR TAXES.
