June 18, 10 p.m.
Fauci says football season will be nearly impossible this year -- "unless players are essentially in a bubble." As different sports begin to find ways to start their seasons, one sport might be sidelined this year. Unless players are essentially in a bubble -- insulated from the community and they are tested nearly every day - it would be very hard to see how football is able to be played this fall, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nations top infectious disease expert, told CNN. If there is a second wave, which is certainly a possibility and which would be complicated by the predictable flu season, football may not happen this year, Fauci said.

(6,473 posts)I think the Oscar goes to these people signing up for cheap cruises since the Pandemic hit. They are incensed as each successive month passes and their cruises are cancelled.
Sample response:
"I live in Bugtussle Tennessee and no one one in my county has Covid--its all a hoax--and I'm not wearing a mask--whose going to make me".
Never mind that your average cruise might have passengers and crew from over 100 countries and from every state in the Union
The football websites may be a close second--they aren't even considering the possibility that the season might be cancelled or that the season will be vastly different than the past. As with cruises-as the day of the event approaches they may have to deal with a bitter pill.
Any other nominees of a segment of the internet displaying unusual covid delusion?

(70,291 posts)They are gonna keep the players together and test often to keep 'em safe
but you have a bunch of 17 to 24 year old young men and it is not like they
will not go out and get drunk and laid and bring the disease back to the team
and from there it will spread to other teams too.
And Ohio State is seriously thinking of have fans (unknown #) for the games too.

(6,473 posts)Don't get me wrong-College Football and a Caribbean cruise are 2 of my favorite past-times but
Almost every football team that has had kids report has already had Covid cases. UT already has about 15 players in quarantine-maybe going for Herd Immunity for the entire team

(70,291 posts)... I really like Ohio State Football but to bring it back now in a county w/ >7,000 C-19
cases is madness. How many deaths or how many cases of C-19 is a football game worth?
