Trump is headed for a cataclysmic defeat. Democrats need to be ready.

Trump isn't going to just lose. He is going to get destroyed. I'm not being cocky. He's lost the country. Most people aren't buying his BS.

Democrats need to be ready to pounce this year. We need to be challenging every governor, senator, state house member, mayor, etc. There is unending positive change that can come out of the 2020 election. We have to fight for every seat.

1. If we forget the lessons from 2016, we will repeat the outcome of that election.

13. I did. The rest of it refers to things other than the presidential race.

I am specifically referring to the same cocky attitude about Trump that helped Trump get into office in 2016 (which had nothing to do with down-ticket races).

11. This is not 2016...the lesson fronm 16 is vote blue no matter who...had the left done this and not

voted for Stein, stayed home or written in whoever, we would have never had Trump. The less is after the primary vote blue. A Democrat is always better than a Republican...always.

14. People felt free to vote for someone else, or not vote at all,

BECAUSE dems were so sure he would lose - I know people who voted 3rd party to send president Clinton a message. Others voted Republican in the primary to help Trump be the nominee, because he was perceived as someone who would be easy to beat. People posted things just like the OP, and when anyone challenged it, they were called a concern troll, alerted on, etc.

So yes, it is starting to look an awful lot like 2016 around here, and it's not a good look.

18. Yes, the "cocky" ones were those who didn't vote for the Democratic nominee

even though they considered themselves to be on the Left. It's their own fault if they didn't take the election seriously and assumed Clinton would win or had the idiotic idea that there was no difference the two candidates so it didn't matter. Whining about the status quo while ensuring the status quo would be blown up by Trump and replaced by chaos and preventable deaths. Arrogance and ignorance. Why is anyone blaming the Democratic Party or we Democrats discussing the election online for other people being stupid?

People have these amazing computer machines to look up the Democratic platform and the candidates and who Trump is and everything, but instead they consume conspiracy theories about Democrats, that President Obama enjoyed murdering people with drones and that Hillary being paid for a speech made her Satan. They aren't even good conspiracies! Dammit. I'm cranky. Rereading "What's the Matter with Kansas" and still people are spouting the both-sides lunacy. Like being in a room with a tiger and a kittycat and worrying about the kitty.

7. I sincerely think he is going to lose as well but am wary of any tricks or last minute power grabs.

There is a lot of uncertainty with how COVID will effect the election and voting in general. Will there be a huge amount of mail in ballots that are perhaps easy to tamper with? Will the election wind up in court and will the supreme court hand Trump the presidency ala Bush V Gore?

I do NOT think Trump will win legitimately, absolutely not. But I'm worried about what will happen if he loses and what laws he will break to ensure that he doesn't.

And Democrats will crawl on broken glass to vote. Also, he's told his supporters to not vote by mail.

They will not only cheat. They will use every tactic imaginable (and some that aren't even imaginable at present) to suppress Democratic voters both through corrupt Rethug Secretaries of State, attacking by mail voting, defunding the Post Office and harassing Democratic voters with their "Voter Inspection Brigades". We need not only to be prepared but also prepared to fight them balls to the wall the moment we get wind of these tactics. The Rethugs are convinced that we will fold like a wet dishcloth when challenged and we need to prove them totally wrong. This is possibly our last chance. We can't get this one wrong.

Yet, it doesn't seem like we're doing everything we could be doing. Yes, we don't have the senate, but the corruption is so blatant and pervasive, I'm astounded we can't do SOMETHING more in D.C. Am I that naive?
