This alone proves that he wasn't "joking" when he said it at his rally.
Unfathomable to me that those around him continue to do his bidding.

(64,995 posts)We've had 3 of the 4 highest testing days ever recorded, since July 11.
And IDPH is publishing numbers daily, and transmitting, by county, directly to Johns-Hopkins and Worldometer.
The positivity rate has been under 4 for around a month, so Illinois officials aren't going to change one thing they're doing.
I expect CA, NY, NJ, CT, MI & Oh are the same. And plenty of other states.
I don't really think testing is going to fall very much.

(7,294 posts)Long delays, as is standard now, renders the testing virtually meaningless.

(64,995 posts)...testing infrastructure internal to the state.
Still building, but lab infrastructure right now is capable of running nearly 70,000 analyses per day.
Testing is around 40,000.
By the time sampling catches up, the plan is for capacity of 100,000 tests per day.
In states that took it less seriously in March & April, you're completely correct that it's a problem.
I'm sure Illinois is not the only state that made these efforts to stay ahead of it.

(32,017 posts)I know that the President is protected by government immunity. I know that our inclination, as a long-lasting republic, will be to pardon all Trumps crimes in order to preserve the peaceful transition of power, but even I, at a certain point, have to wonder whether we can excuse what we are seeing now.
I am on the verge of calling it GENOCIDE.
We cant really excuse that. Can we?

(3,427 posts)Two months later, it became "I told my people to slow the testing down."
There is no coherent or consistent policy under this "president", which is why we are where we are now.

(13,360 posts)Here in our little rural mountain tourist town we are inundated with people and they are all over the place and only maybe 1/2 wear masks...
Just signed up for testing today and they have NO appointments till NEXT saturday!
My son got tested 2 weeks ago and we are still waiting on results...
Meanwhile we were seeing the number in our town jump by 10 each day, yesterday it jumped by 20. Considering the 2 week lag I'm guessing our positives are probably doubled out in town for real...
