It was just on the local news here in NE Ohio. I think he's announcing it tomorrow if I understood correctly.
It's a big deal because Kasich could have just as easily sat on his hands and stayed neutral. This is a message that Trump should fear. It could open a floodgate of moderate republicans voicing their support.

(23,850 posts)He's far enough away from Trump, that the Trump stink isn't completely on him. But he was still a dickhead Republican back in the "bash Democrats" day. Now the logical conclusion of the Republican Party has arrived and he wants off the train.

(8,954 posts)Kasich is no moderate, more of a mainstream conservative back when the party would tolerate such as thing. Still, to his credit he never endorsed Trump's candidacy while he was governor of Ohio and has been a frequent critic since then. Still waiting for a few GOP members of Congress to grow a spine.

(18,581 posts)John Kasich could have easily won another term in Ohio had he run, and the state is an important battleground this year. This isn't the Bible Belt where a republican is the moral choice nor a coastal state where liberals rule. The state is nearly evenly divided despite the gerrymandered districts that weigh repub.
The far left and the far right already decided who they're voting for, but Kasich appeals to the vast center who saw him as a fair handed governor. I hope he hits the campaign trail with Joe.
