America's Children are our most precious resource.

They are America's future. Some will be leaders. Some will be scientists, inventors. They are too precious to squander by reopening schools without proper health and safety measures in place. Sadly, too many "leaders" are following Betsy DeVos' playbook, demanding in person classes without sufficient PPE or social distancing. In other places, schools will be teaching remotely without equal access to technology or broadband internet. Unfortunately, the students without equal access to remote learning will be students of color living in underserved communities, and they will be left behind while their more privileged peers will get a head start in life.

Sounds like a tough choice, not as easy as some like to make it. Don't reopen for health concerns, Hoyt Jul 2020 #2

We seem to be headed towards half in class and half at home. Possible exposure the days they are there. Have to figure out childcare the days they aren’t. Craptastic distance learning, aka, here’s a worksheet, figure it out, asshole the at home days. The worst of everything, I think.

I recognize that is a dilemma, one that I am unqualified to solve. But i believe that a readily available, safe, effective and affordable vaccine is necessary before we can begin to return to whatever will seem normal in the aftermath. The lack of leadership we're experiencing is responsible for the mess we're living through.

It’s still very difficult to get tested. It’s really unacceptable that nothing seems to be getting any better.
